James Bond is one of the most beloved characters in pop culture. He has been captivating audiences since the first novel was published in 1952, followed shortly by the first movie “Casino Royale” in 1962. Sixty years, 25 movies and seven actors later, James Bond remains a prominent figure today and is the longest-running movie franchise of all time. Each film contains classic tropes such as evil masterminds, exotic locations, luxury vehicles and an array of weapons that have been delighting viewers for decades.
This year, fans can look forward to “Being James Bond: The Daniel Craig Story” – a retrospective documentary that looks back on Daniel Craig’s sixteen year journey as 007. The documentary will be released in early 2022, bringing viewers into an intimate conversation with Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson about Craig’s five movies as Bond. It also shows exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from each film.

When Craig was cast as James Bond in 2005, many were skeptical of his ability to play the role due to his lack of stardom at the time and distinct look from previous Bonds. But when “Casino Royale” premiered in 2006, it was an instant hit – proving all doubts wrong and establishing Daniel Craig as an illustrious actor for future films to come. His portrayal of Bond brought forth a new version that had never been seen before – one with complex emotions that revealed vulnerability as opposed to slick suave with witty one-liners only.
The documentary dives into other successes such as “Quantum of Solace”, “Skyfall” and “Spectre” – each having their own uniqueness but all adding onto Craig’s legacy as 007. It also highlights the physical toll on Craig’s body due to demanding stunts and emotional fatigue brought on by his age mixed with sudden fame after being thrust into the limelight. Now that filming has wrapped up on “No Time To Die” – his last Bond film – it is clear that Daniel Craig will leave behind some huge shoes to fill when he departs from MI6 for good!
