Alexander The Great, the son of King Phillip II of Macedonia, is one of the most influential figures in history. His life and accomplishments have been a source of great fascination for centuries, and his legacy lives on to this day. Alexander was born in 356 BC in Pella, the capital of Macedonia. His father was a renowned military leader who had conquered much of Greece, and Alexander would soon follow in his footsteps.

At just eighteen years old, Alexander took control of the Macedonian army and rallied an invasion into Persia, with whom his father had ongoing wars. He quickly conquered much of Persia and eventually reached India, becoming the first European to expand so far east. His military genius is unparalleled and his military campaigns are considered some of the greatest in history.

Alexander not only conquered vast swaths of land but also sought to unify people from different cultures. He extended religious freedom throughout his Empire by allowing different faiths to coexist peacefully. He even intermarried Persian women into Greek families in an effort to bridge cultures together under one rule. Furthermore, he founded many cities throughout his Empire such as Alexandria – named after himself – which would become cultural centers for trade & learning.
