Sumer is the earliest known civilization in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia. It emerged during the Chalcolithic and early Bronze ages.

The history of Sumer, includes the prehistoric Ubaid and Uruk periods. It spans the 5th to 3rd millennia BCE, ending with the downfall of the Third Dynasty of Ur around 2004 BCE.

Some historians believe that the Sumer civilization developed earlier and faster than the Egyptian civilization.

This documentary takes a look into the ancient Sumer Empire. What lies under the dusts of Iraq? The country lies on most of the Sumer Empire, the world’s first civilization.
