Uncle Saddam is an insightful and thought-provoking documentary that takes a deep dive into the life and times of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. Through narration written by Scott Thompson – best known for his work on the iconic sketch comedy series The Kids in the Hall – Uncle Saddam provides a powerful and poignant portrait of one of the world’s most notorious leaders. Wallace Langham, known for his roles in What About Joan?, Veronica’s Closet, and HBO’s Phil, lends his remarkable voice to further illuminate Hussein’s rise to power and subsequent rule over Iraq.
In this eye-opening film, viewers are given a unique window into Hussein’s complex legacy. They learn about his unprecedented cult of personality and witness firsthand accounts from those who lived through his reign. We bear witness to the desolation caused by Hussein’s corruption as well as the resilience of the Iraqi people in their fight for freedom after his ousting. Uncle Saddam also tackles some of the more uncomfortable truths surrounding this controversial figure, exploring both sides of this often divisive story.
Through its journalistic narrative approach combined with striking visuals, Uncle Saddam paints an unforgettable picture of a leader whose influence continues to be felt years after he left office. Whether you are looking for a better understanding of politics in the Middle East or simply wish to broaden your knowledge on historical figures, we highly recommend watching this gripping documentary.
