Officially known as the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausführung H, it was also referred to as SdKfz 181. It was an impressive vehicle, capable of mounting up to five machine guns and a 75mm main gun. Despite its formidable armament, the Tiger I was ultimately outclassed by newer Allied tanks and production ended in August 1944.
Today, the Tiger I is remembered more for its historical significance than its battlefield performance. Its impact on World War II was immense and can still be felt today. To get a glimpse into this fascinating history, one should watch the documentary Tiger Tanks: The Story of the German Panzer Division in WWII. It provides an enlightening overview of how this powerful weapon changed warfare on both sides of the war.
