The Ken and Barbie Killers documentary tells the jaw-dropping story of Canadian serial killers Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. The couple became notorious for their gruesome crimes, including the rape and murder of three teenage girls.
The events that transpired during this case shocked the nation. It all began in 1990 when Bernardo met Homolka at a pet store in Scarborough, Ontario. From then on, their relationship was filled with lies and deception; they even called themselves Ken and Barbie to friends and family.
In 1992, the couple were arrested after an investigation into the unsolved rapes and homicides of Leslie Mahaffy, Kristen French, and Tammy Homolka (Karla’s younger sister). The two were convicted based on DNA evidence which linked them to the killings.
The documentary follows both Karla and Paul’s paths leading up to their trial in 1995. It delves into their twisted backgrounds as well as how they managed to evade capture for so long. Furthermore, it provides an inside look at how two people could do something so heinous together without anyone suspecting anything was amiss.
