9. The Nepal Earthquake 2015 – Documentary
I arrived in Nepal at the start of a new journey, both literally and figuratively. I was filled with excitement and nervous anticipation about the Earthquake relief work I was planning to do in this beautiful country. The first week here proved challenging as my team set up the project goals and expectations for our mission. Making sure that we were helping towards rebuilding homes and providing food, water and medical support to those affected by the earthquakes was our priority. The second week we started to dive into the work and were able to start making a difference in many of these rural villages, which had been so heavily impacted. It filled me with joy seeing how much we were helping the people, but at times it felt so overwhelming as I processed all of the stories they shared with us about what they had gone through. As I continued my journey I began to explore Nepal’s stunning landscape. From trekking through lush jungles, visiting ancient temples or simply taking time to wander around local markets – there was something for everyone here! The change of pace was just the refreshment that I needed and had the added bonus of helping me to understand the culture more deeply. One thing that became very apparent was how proud these people are of their heritage, even in the midst of such terrible tragedy. My time here has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but one thing is for sure – I will take home with me some truly special memories and friendships from this incredible country. I encourage anyone who has not visited Nepal to consider doing so in the future – it is a place filled with so much beauty, resilience and spirit! Please continue to support and pray for these people as they try to recover from the devastation caused by the earthquakes. Together we can all help them towards a brighter future.

10. The 2015 Nepal Earthquake Disaster
The ground began to shudder and buildings swayed back and forth like trees in a violent storm. People screamed in terror, trying to scramble out of their homes and reach safety. In the capital city of Kathmandu, panic quickly spread as centuries-old monuments crumbled and churches split apart. The quake lasted for what seemed like hours, but was actually just minutes.
When it finally stopped, the citizens of Nepal were left with an unimaginable tragedy. The death toll soon climbed into the thousands, with even more injured or missing. Homes had collapsed under the force of the quake; some people were trapped beneath mounds of rubble while others huddled together in fear.

The earthquake caused immense destruction in the nation as it was of a magnitude of 7.9 Richter scale, resulting in many lives lost, leaving people shattered and helpless. A number of buildings were destroyed and many more were damaged. The earthquake hit Nepal’s capital Kathmandu hard, causing major damage to its infrastructure and buildings. Vidya Sanskar School decided to take action in order to help those affected by the quake. A group of students from grade 10 gathered together with their teachers and created this documentary about the event which changed Nepal forever. This video focuses on revealing stories of courage and hope that emerged during this time of tragedy, along with providing an inside look into the ground level situation. From there, they have aimed to raise awareness about the devastation that was caused and also provide help to those in need. The documentary is a ray of hope for the people affected by this natural disaster, as it shows how even amidst such distress, humanity had still shone through. The students from Vidya Sanskar School are an inspiration to all – they had overcome their own fears and anxieties, and worked together with compassion and drive, using their creativity to bring attention to the issue at hand. Through this documentary, they encourage us all to stand up against adversity in order to make a difference. This documentary is a heartwarming tribute that showcases Nepal’s strength and resilience in times of tragedy. It serves as an example of what can be done in the face of disaster, reminding us to never give up hope and continue fighting for a better tomorrow. The students at Vidya Sanskar School have successfully created an eye-opening journey that will help make a difference. This is a story of courage and hope amidst tragedy. On Baisakh 12, 2015 Nepal was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 on the Richter scale – leaving behind utter destruction, shattered lives and the loss of many innocent people. The capital city Kathmandu was the worst affected due to its fragile infrastructure and buildings being knocked down like dominos. Seeing this devastation, Vidya Sanskar School’s Grade 10 students decided to take action by creating a documentary.
