The faction map associated with a story about a poster for the 2024 film Civil War depicts four fictional groups: Loyalist States, Western Forces, Florida Alliance and New People’s Army. It is a piece of the film’s imagined setting—not a map of real U.S. political divisions. The headline’s claim that the poster “divides America” does not, on the available evidence, establish a documented public controversy or split in opinion.
What does the *Civil War* faction map show?
Wikimedia Commons describes the image as a map of the United States’ division in the 2024 movie Civil War. Its legend names four factions:

- Loyalist States (United States)
- Western Forces
- Florida Alliance
- New People’s Army
These are groups in the film’s fictional scenario. The Commons file page explicitly says the map is fictitious and has no official recognition; it should not be used to describe actual U.S. borders, alliances or political divisions. Wikimedia Commons’ file page dates the map to March 31, 2024, and records an update on April 3, 2024. Those dates refer to the Commons file, not a verified poster release.
What is known about the poster story?
The Commons page lists Collider’s article, “New ‘Civil War’ Poster Divides America Into Warring Factions,” as a source for the map. That establishes a connection between the cited article and the map, but the article itself was not accessible for verification. The available evidence therefore does not establish the poster’s precise imagery, its publication context, or how audiences responded.
#1 Best Overall
- A race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor's edge.
In particular, “divides America” should be read as the headline’s framing, not as evidence that the poster caused a documented controversy or divided public opinion. Nor does the file page establish the film’s intended political symbolism.

A fictional map can help convey the premise and world-building of a movie, but it is not a factual account of the United States. The four names belong to the film’s imagined conflict; the Commons page’s explicit warning against treating the map as official is essential context for anyone sharing or interpreting it.
