Not yet confirmed. A Collider headline reported that xXx 4 was happening, that Vin Diesel would reprise the title role, that D.J. Caruso would direct, and that filming would begin in December. As of early October 2026, we could not verify which year that December refers to, whether cameras have started rolling, or whether those cast and director details still hold. Treat the report as a past claim about planned timing, not as a confirmed production schedule.
What the report actually claims
The Collider piece is titled “xXx 4 Is Happening with Vin Diesel; Filming Begins in December.” Its summary, as it appeared in search results, makes three specific claims:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
Xxx / Xxx: State of the Union - Set | $16.40 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
xXx: Return Of Xander Cage (4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital) | $11.49 | Buy on Amazon |
| 3 |
|
xXx: Return of Xander Cage (Blu-ray + DVD) | $11.98 | Buy on Amazon |
| 4 |
|
xXx: State of the Union (Blu-ray) | $16.48 | Buy on Amazon |
| 5 |

- The sequel is in motion: the headline presents xXx 4 as happening rather than as a rumor or a script idea.
- Vin Diesel returns: the summary says Diesel would reprise the titular role.
- D.J. Caruso directs: the summary says Caruso would return to direct.
Filming is said to begin in December. The headline gives no year, and the summary we saw does not add one.
Where the claims stand
The table separates what the report says from what we could independently establish. The Collider article itself could not be loaded because the site returned a server error, so the details below come from the headline and the search summary attached to it.

What we could not verify
Several gaps matter for anyone trying to plan around this news:
- The year. A headline about a December start can be a recent report or an older one resurfacing. Without a publication date we could confirm, “December” cannot be tied to a specific upcoming month.
- Current status. We found no later update confirming that the project stayed on schedule, moved, or was shelved.
- Direct statements. We found no quote from Vin Diesel, D.J. Caruso, or a studio representative on the sequel. Any cast or director detail should be read as attributed to the report, not as a statement from the people named.
- Franchise context. The official Paramount catalog page we located covers xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the previous installment. It does not mention xXx 4, so it cannot be used to confirm the new film.
What would count as confirmation
Stronger evidence would look like one of the following, roughly in order of reliability:
Rank #2
- XXX: XANDER CAGE [4K UHD]
- An official announcement from Paramount or the film’s production company that names a start date or production period.
- Statements from Vin Diesel or D.J. Caruso on their verified social accounts or in interviews with a named date.
- Dated trade reporting that cites production sources, such as casting notices, crew hires, or location filming.
- Visible on-set activity reported by local outlets in a filming location, with a date attached.
Until one of these appears, a headline that says a film “is happening” should be treated as a report of intent.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check the current status yourself
- Open the original Collider article and note its publication date. If the page will not load, search for the headline and read the date shown in the results.
- Search the title with “official” and “Paramount” to see whether the studio has issued any statement of its own.
- Check Vin Diesel’s and D.J. Caruso’s verified accounts for posts from the past several months, not only the headline week.
- Search trade outlets for xXx 4 with the words “casting” or “filming” and compare each result’s date against the Collider headline.
- If a report says filming has started, look for a named source and a location. A report with no source is not enough to change the status above.
The Collider headline may still be accurate in substance. But the evidence we could access does not show a confirmed start, a confirmed cast, or a confirmed December in any particular year. Readers should wait for an official statement or dated production report before treating the sequel as scheduled.
