Cobra Kai has six seasons, but there is no single, verified age for the cast in each one. The question can mean three different things: how old the performers were while filming, how old they were when a season premiered, or how old the fictional characters are in the story. Each answer depends on a different date and a different source, and the reliable sources available cover only part of the cast. This article explains what can be stated with confidence, what can only be estimated, and how to calculate an age you can defend.
Three different ages readers mean
Most confusion about this question comes from treating these measures as one. They answer different questions and can produce different numbers for the same actor.

| Measure | What it answers | Date needed | Status in the sources reviewed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Performer age during filming | How old the actor was while shooting a given season | Filming window for that season | Not established for most of the cast; available only as an estimate for one performer |
| Performer age at premiere | How old the actor was when a season was released | Season premiere date | Not established season by season in the sources reviewed |
| Character age in the story | How old the fictional person is on screen | The show’s own timeline | Not established; actor age should not be used to infer it |
Production and release are often months apart, so a filming-based age and a premiere-based age for the same season can differ by a year. Character age can differ from actor age by much more, because the show’s timeline does not map cleanly onto production years.
What the official and editorial sources establish
- Season count. Netflix’s official series listing identifies six seasons, and its season pages present the show in the same six-season structure.
- Cast structure. The returning adult leads are joined by a younger ensemble. Netflix Tudum’s season-five feature describes that original young ensemble as the group viewers first met in seasons one and two, and identifies Oona O’Brien as a season-four addition.
- Character versus actor age. At least one cast-age explainer warns that real ages can differ from the ages a character is shown to be, so the two should never be treated as the same number.
None of these sources publishes a birth-date table or a season-by-season age list for the full cast. Netflix’s materials confirm who is in the show and how it is structured; they do not state how old anyone was while filming.

Season-by-season status
The table below reports only what the reviewed sources support. Where a cell says “not stated,” no verified figure was found in those sources, and an age should not be inferred from other data.
| Season | Verified cast-age figure | Cast notes from reviewed sources |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | One estimate: William Zabka at 53–54 during season-one filming, as reported by The News Review. This is a secondary estimate, not a primary-source figure. | Original young ensemble introduced; described by Netflix Tudum as the group viewers met in seasons one and two. |
| Season 2 | Not stated in reviewed sources | Original young ensemble continues per Netflix Tudum. |
| Season 3 | Not stated in reviewed sources | Not stated in reviewed sources |
| Season 4 | Not stated in reviewed sources | Oona O’Brien joins the cast, per Netflix Tudum. |
| Season 5 | Not stated in reviewed sources | Netflix Tudum’s season-five feature covers the original ensemble. |
| Season 6 | Not stated in reviewed sources | Final season of the six listed by Netflix. |
Seventeen’s cast-age article discusses real-age comparisons with examples, but it does not provide a complete six-season dataset, so it is not used as a source for specific ages here.

How to calculate an age you can defend
- Choose one convention before you start: age during filming or age at premiere. Use the same convention for every row in your table.
- Find the performer’s birth date from a primary or official source, such as a studio, agency, or verified biography. Secondary age explainers are useful leads but should not be the only source.
- Find the matching date. For filming, use the production window for that season. For premiere, use the season’s release date on Netflix.
- Subtract the birth date from the chosen date. If you only have a year for either date, report a range, such as “53–54,” rather than an exact age.
- Label the result with its source and convention, for example “age at season-one premiere, calculated from a verified birth date and Netflix’s release date.”
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using character age as actor age. A character’s on-screen age tells you nothing reliable about the performer.
- Mixing conventions in one table. A filming-based figure next to a premiere-based figure looks consistent but answers different questions.
- Presenting a range as an exact number. A year-only date supports a range, not a single birthday-accurate age.
- Treating one estimate as a cast-wide pattern. The only specific figure available covers one performer in one season.
What would close the gap
A complete answer would need verified birth dates for each recurring performer, the production window for each season, and the premiere date for each season. Until those are published by primary sources, the most accurate answer is the one above: six seasons, a clearly labeled estimate for one performer in season one, and no verified age figures for the rest of the cast.
