1. Bálor vs. Seth Rollins: SummerSlam 2016
WWE’s report records Bálor defeating Rollins to become the first WWE Universal Champion, a title introduced for that event. The stakes are the strongest of any match on this list. WWE’s report also notes that Bálor had entered a WWE ring as a Raw Superstar only four weeks earlier, which makes the title win a rapid rise. The Demon presentation carries the match’s identity, and that weighting is why it sits first. We do not claim a critical consensus on the in-ring quality, so judge the bout on its footage.

2. Bálor vs. AJ Styles: TLC 2017
WWE billed this as a dream match. Its report frames the meeting as unusual: Styles crossed brand lines after travel with the SmackDown tour, so the two met in a one-night encounter rather than a planned program. Bálor won, and WWE’s result heading reads “The Demon Finn Bálor def. AJ Styles.” The placement rewards anticipation and the contrast between the two wrestlers, which are editorial rather than measured qualities.
3. Bálor vs. Samoa Joe: NXT TakeOver: The End
WWE records Joe defeating Bálor in a Steel Cage Match to win the NXT Championship. Because this result ends the title exchange between the two, it is the payoff of their rivalry, and that is the main reason it ranks above the opening bout. Our verified sources do not describe the match’s physical sequence or finish, so we limit this entry to the result and its place in the rivalry. Check the footage for the rest.
4. Bálor vs. Samoa Joe: NXT TakeOver: Dallas
The title history records Bálor winning the NXT Championship from Joe at TakeOver: Dallas, which opened the rivalry and started Bálor’s first NXT title run. Its placement below the cage match is a judgment about the rivalry’s payoff, not about this bout’s quality alone. Note that the event record for this match is described inconsistently in our sources (see the checklist below), so confirm the outcome before citing it.
5. Bálor vs. Kyle O’Reilly: NXT TakeOver 31
Bálor retained the NXT Championship in this match. WWE describes a technical opening that escalated into strikes from O’Reilly, with Bálor attacking the midsection and finishing with the Coup de Grâce. It is the clearest example here of a bout driven by technical wrestling rather than by the Demon persona, which is why it earns a place despite lower stakes than the top four.
