The latest documented location identified is historical: a July 2004 report placed them in an apartment in St. John’s, Newfoundland. That report does not answer where they are now.
What is known about the Bagbys’ whereabouts?
The available reliable record supports a past location, not a current one. In “Immortalized on Film,” published by The Telegram on July 17, 2004 and hosted on the official Dear Zachary site, David and Kate Bagby were described as living in an apartment in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Read the 2004 report.
That is the latest primary-source location identified here. It should not be presented as their present home, and the sources do not establish whether either is alive today. Online pages asserting a more recent location do not provide reliable confirmation.
Why the Bagbys are associated with Dear Zachary
Kurt Kuenne made Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father in memory of his friend Andrew Bagby. After the deaths of Andrew and his son Zachary, the documentary became part of the Bagbys’ public advocacy concerning Canadian bail law.

Kuenne’s official statement says that Members of Parliament Scott Andrews and Senator Tommy Banks created Bill C-464 after seeing the film, and that the bill became law. The filmmaker’s statement also reproduces a statement from Andrew’s parents: “The best we can get out of this is change in the future to prevent a recurrence. It’s too horrible to let it happen again.” A Senate of Canada committee document records the Bagbys’ connection to the parliamentary discussion.

The official Dear Zachary website lists physical editions of the documentary and David Bagby’s memoir, Dance with the Devil: A Memoir of Murder and Loss. These are related film and reading material, not evidence about the family’s current whereabouts. The site’s digital-platform references came from a 2019 announcement, so they do not establish present-day streaming availability.
