John Cena’s “Five Knuckle Shuffle” is widely reported as a masturbation innuendo. That interpretation comes from secondary reporting, however—not a located statement from Cena or WWE confirming the name’s intended meaning. The evidence available here also does not establish the nine other moves implied by the original title, so this article sticks to what can be supported.
What does “Five Knuckle Shuffle” refer to?
WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard reported on May 12, 2025, that the name of Cena’s signature move refers to masturbation. Pritchard also reported that the move debuted in 2004. Read the WrestleZone report.
That is a reported interpretation, not a direct confirmation from Cena or WWE in the available evidence. The phrase can suggest the joke, but a name’s suggestive wording does not by itself prove who intended the joke or what they meant by it.
What happens in the move?
The move’s in-ring action and the innuendo in its name are separate questions. The reporting cited above identifies it as Cena’s signature move and addresses what the name is said to reference; it does not establish additional details about the move’s mechanics or provide an official explanation of the name.

What about the nine other wrestling moves?
The title’s promise of nine more innuendo-based moves cannot be substantiated with the available evidence. A 2020 Reddit discussion includes fans using or recognizing suggestive names such as “Morning Woods” and “Afternoon Delight,” but an informal discussion does not establish a reliable list, the moves’ official names, or their intended meanings. See the Reddit discussion.
Without reliable reporting or an attributable statement for each candidate, listing nine more would risk presenting fan speculation as fact. The supported answer is narrower: secondary reporting interprets Cena’s move name as a masturbation joke, while an explicit confirmation from Cena or WWE is not established here.
