Transformers One introduced its first trailer with an unusual live event: actors Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry presented the launch as the trailer traveled aboard a craft to a reported peak altitude of 125,000 feet. The film itself looks back to Cybertron, tracing the friendship between the figures who become Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Why the first trailer launch was different
Rather than simply releasing the footage online, the filmmakers staged a live-streamed countdown around its journey aboard a craft. Sabina Graves’s April 18, 2024, Gizmodo report says the craft reached a peak altitude of 125,000 feet above Earth before the trailer played. That altitude is the report’s figure; no primary flight or event record is cited there.
Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry introduced the trailer during the event. The space-bound presentation is a marketing spectacle, distinct from the story the footage promotes.
What Transformers One is about
Transformers One is an animated prequel set on Cybertron. It follows Optimus Prime and Megatron when they are still friends, before their relationship turns into enmity. The story also sets up the origins of the war for the AllSpark.
