The Canadian award claim is unverified: the official records available here do not identify a Canadian award for I’m Still Here. A secondary reference has suggested a Vancouver International Film Festival audience award, but no confirming record was found in the targeted official VIFF search. A Canadian screening alone would not establish that the film won an award.
What is confirmed about the Canadian award?
The evidence does not settle which Canadian award the headline refers to, or confirm that the film received one. The official VIFF search did not return an award record, so the Vancouver audience-award claim should not be presented as fact. This is an unresolved claim, not proof that no Canadian organization ever gave the film an award.

The distinction matters: a festival may screen a film without awarding it a prize. Confirmation would require a record from the relevant awarding organization identifying the award and the film as its recipient.
Which awards are documented?
La Cinémathèque québécoise’s film record lists three wins: the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 2025, the 2025 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Fernanda Torres, and Best Screenplay at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival. Sony Pictures Entertainment’s February 11, 2025 press release also reports the film’s 2025 Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film and the Rotterdam Audience Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Those records establish notable international awards, but they do not identify a Canadian win. The award record summarized here is partial; a further official Canadian record could change that finding.
