But the available evidence does not establish seven famous Saints fans or support a reliable ranking of them, so naming six more would risk confusing supporters with former players, club figures or people simply associated with Southampton.
Who is Southampton’s best-known documented supporter?
Matt Le Tissier is the strongest clearly documented example. NBC Sports includes him in its Southampton celebrity-fans entry, and in 2022 BBC Sport reported that, after stepping aside from his club ambassador role, he said: “I will always remain a fan and supporter of everything Saints.” The BBC report records his own description of his continuing support.

That evidence supports calling Le Tissier a well-known Southampton supporter. It does not prove that he is definitively the club’s most famous fan: the NBC feature is a broad celebrity-fan roundup, not a measured ranking, and the BBC report establishes his stated support in 2022 rather than documenting every later change in his relationship with the club.
Why isn’t there a reliable top-seven list?
A credible list needs evidence for two separate claims: that each person supports Southampton, and that their public profile warrants inclusion among the most famous. The available sources establish one strong example, not six additional names or a consistent basis for ranking seven people.

- Being a former player is not enough. A playing career with Southampton does not, by itself, establish that someone is a supporter.
- A club or community role is not enough. Southampton’s Saints Foundation ambassador page describes club and community connections, but those roles alone do not prove supporter status. The club’s ambassador page should not be treated as a celebrity-fan list.
- Local ties are not enough. Being born in Southampton or having a family connection to the area does not establish support for the football club.
- Fame needs a consistent standard. Public recognition, direct evidence of support, whether the support is current or historical, and the quality and date of the evidence all matter. The available material does not compare seven people on those grounds.
What Southampton’s supporter resources do—and don’t—show
Southampton FC describes its Fan Advisory Board as a formal channel for supporter representation and dialogue. The Fan Advisory Board page explains its engagement function; it is not a ranking of famous supporters.
The club’s panel biographies offer examples of how supporters describe their own connections, including family ties and attending matches. They provide context on supporter identity, not evidence that the people featured are celebrities. The panel page should therefore be read as a supporter-engagement resource rather than a source for a celebrity top seven.

For Saints history, not a celebrity-fan list
Readers interested in the club’s past can look to Southampton’s official history, which includes the 1976 FA Cup victory. The club history page provides that background. Southampton also lists the book Tie a Yellow Ribbon – How The Saints Won the Cup, published in 2006 for the 30th anniversary of the cup win, on its audio-programme page. The club page documents the book, but does not establish whether it is currently available to buy. Neither source is evidence for a celebrity-supporter ranking.
