In August 2024, viewers watching the Big Brother 26 live feeds reported that houseguests Rubina Bernabe and Tucker Des Lauriers were kissing and becoming intimate under a sheet. Some entertainment outlets said fans believed the pair had sex, describing it as apparent activity rather than a confirmed event. Neither houseguest, nor CBS, has been reported as confirming what happened under the covers, so the sexual part of the story should be read as fan interpretation.
What viewers reported
The moment surfaced on the live feeds during the 2024 season. Two entertainment reports carry the same core account:

- MEAWW (report updated August 23, 2024) described the pair kissing under a bedsheet and said they “seemingly” began having sex. Its headline described the intimate moment as airing live.
- Reality Tea (August 26, 2024) named Bernabe and Des Lauriers and said fans thought they had sex on the feed. Its wording was qualified: the pair “seemingly had sex.” The outlet reported that a viewer screen-recorded the moment and posted it on X. That recording is not reproduced or linked here.
Both outlets describe kissing beneath covers, with Des Lauriers moving on top of Bernabe and a sheet nearly slipping. These are the outlets’ descriptions of what viewers saw, not a verified account of the footage.
What is and is not established
The available reporting supports a narrower set of conclusions than the headlines suggest.

- Established by the reporting: the two houseguests were filmed kissing and getting physically close under a sheet on the live feed, and fans reacted publicly.
- Not established: that sex took place. The sources frame this as what fans believed they saw, and the word “seemingly” appears in both reports.
- Not established: any direct statement from either houseguest or from CBS about what occurred. The coverage reviewed for this piece contains no post-incident confirmation from either party.
- Not a full independent check: the two entertainment reports are corroborating secondary coverage. They are not independent verification by the program or the participants, and no official episode transcript was reviewed.
Two strands of fan reaction
Coverage describes fan discussion splitting along two lines. These are strands of conversation reported in the articles, not a measured split in public opinion, and they should not be read as representing all viewers.
Whether the feed should have shown it
Reality Tea reported that some viewers questioned whether the live feed should have carried the moment at all, and whether producers should have cut away. The question for many was less about the houseguests and more about what a 24-hour camera feed should air when two people are in a private, intimate situation.
Whether the showmance changes the game
A second group focused on competition. Reality Tea reported fans discussing whether a showmance between Bernabe and Des Lauriers could affect how either played. The article also reports that the next day Bernabe concentrated on gameplay and tried to get Cam Sullivan-Brown evicted; that effort did not succeed.
The confessional line attributed to Bernabe
Reality Tea and MEAWW both attribute the following line to Bernabe, reported from her confessional: “I didn’t come here to play man’s game. I came here to win $750,000.” Because the reports are secondary, the line should be read as quoted in those outlets rather than checked against an official transcript.
Show context and figures
CBS’s official Big Brother show page describes the format as a group of people living together in a house, recording their every move 24/7 and competing for a prize. The page lists Season 26 among previous seasons. The figures below come from that page; they describe the show’s current format and do not, on their own, prove anything about the 2024 incident.
| Figure | What CBS states | Scope of the claim |
|---|---|---|
| $750,000 | Grand prize for the competition | CBS’s current show description; the two entertainment reports also cite the figure as Bernabe’s stated goal |
| 112 HD cameras and 113 microphones | Equipment in the house | CBS’s current show page; not stated for Season 26 specifically |
| 24 hours a day | Recording schedule | CBS’s description of the format; the page does not state how any feed is edited or moderated |
The CBS page links to Paramount+ for viewing. It does not establish that Season 26 live feeds are available in every region, so readers looking for the original footage should check current access directly with CBS or Paramount+ rather than relying on fan-posted clips.
