Recent online discussion has brought older controversies involving influencer Jay Alvarrez back into view, but the available reporting does not establish that fans broadly—or permanently—turned against him. The renewed attention centers on claims made by his former partner Alexis Ren and model Sveta Bilyalova, alongside social-media discussion of those accounts.
What Alexis Ren said about their relationship
In a June 2024 report, People summarized Ren’s account on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Ren described a relationship that began positively and later became entangled with the business surrounding their shared public image. She said she felt pressure to look perfect and alleged that contracts arranged a continuing share of her earnings for Alvarrez.
Those are Ren’s claims as reported; the article did not independently establish the contract terms. The distinction matters: the account describes her experience and allegation, not a publicly verified review of the agreements.
What Sveta Bilyalova said about the intimate recording
Infobae reported that Bilyalova said she consented to making an intimate recording but not to its publication. The report says it was made in 2016 and became public in 2020. Bilyalova also alleged that Alvarrez used the recording to pressure her. That allegation was not independently corroborated in the reporting summarized here.

- 131ft waterproof camera: AKASO EK7000 is designed to withstand extreme environments, together with durable waterproof case. With the accessories, transform it for indoor and outdoor activities.

- Built-in Wi-Fi, edit & share your action in minutes: Just download App(AKASO GO) on your phone or tablet and connect with this action camera. Wi-Fi signal ranges up to 10 meters. MicroSD card is not included.
Consent to being recorded is not the same as consent to distribution. The distinction is central to Bilyalova’s account, and the allegation about pressure should remain attributed to her rather than repeated as an established finding.
Why the story is circulating again
A December 2025 article reported that the video had returned to online conversation. In June 2026, a Reddit thread revisited older controversies and asked what had happened to Alvarrez. These reports show renewed discussion in particular venues; they do not measure how many fans have changed their view or whether any change is lasting.

Comments such as “What’s up with Jay Alvarrez?” and “Got anything recent?” illustrate the curiosity expressed by some users in that thread. They are forum comments, not representative evidence of a wider audience consensus. The same thread includes unverified speculation and serious allegations that should not be treated as fact.
What the available accounts establish—and what they do not
| Point | What is reported | What remains unestablished |
|---|---|---|
| Ren’s relationship account | Ren described pressure around their public image and alleged a continuing share of her earnings for Alvarrez under contracts. | The reporting did not independently establish the contract terms. |
| Bilyalova’s account | She said she agreed to the recording, not its publication, and alleged that Alvarrez used it to pressure her. | The allegation about pressure was not independently corroborated in the material summarized here. |
| Audience reaction | Articles and a Reddit thread document renewed discussion in specific online settings. | They do not establish the scale, representativeness, or duration of a shift in fan sentiment. |
The chronology reported for the recording is specific: it was made in 2016 and came to public attention in 2020, according to Infobae. A December 2025 article described it as a renewed social-media topic. That timeline helps explain why an older controversy may resurface, but it does not by itself explain individual fans’ reactions.

What can fairly be said about the backlash
There are documented reasons the subject draws renewed scrutiny: Ren’s reported account of pressure tied to a shared public image and commercial arrangements, and Bilyalova’s distinction between consenting to a recording and consenting to its publication. Both accounts should be presented with clear attribution and without turning unverified online claims into fact.
The evidence supports saying that some people have revisited these controversies. It does not support claiming that fans as a whole have turned on Alvarrez, assigning a single reason to a broad audience, or describing a lasting consensus. A 2019 article about Alvarrez sharing messages with James Charles concerns a separate controversy involving Charles and does not establish a fan backlash against Alvarrez.
