Netflix’s teaser confirmed the returning Berlin gang and several new characters for Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, the spinoff set in Seville. The series has since premiered on Netflix: it was released on May 15, 2026, with eight episodes, according to Netflix’s official trailer announcement.
What the teaser confirmed
Netflix announced the teaser on January 28, 2026, in a release that named the people who would make up the next chapter of the Money Heist universe and described the story as a master heist in Seville. The teaser announcement is the first official confirmation of the cast in this form, and it is the source for the character details below. Netflix’s earlier premiere-date announcement, published December 10, 2025, had already set the May 15 date that the series later met.
The cast details come from three official Netflix sources: the January 28, 2026 teaser announcement, the May 5, 2026 official trailer announcement, and the Netflix Tudum series guide dated May 7, 2026.

The Duke and Duchess of Málaga
José Luis García-Pérez plays the Duke of Málaga, and Marta Nieto plays the Duchess of Málaga. Netflix’s Tudum guide names the characters’ full names as Álvaro Hermoso de Medina for the duke and Genoveva Dante for the duchess. Those names appear in the Tudum guide only; the trailer announcement uses the titles.
The Seville heist explained
The story moves the franchise to Seville. According to Netflix’s official trailer announcement, Berlin and his gang receive a commission from the Duke of Málaga to steal Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine. The scheme is not what it seems: the real target is the duke and his wife, who believe they can blackmail Berlin.

Netflix’s Tudum guide says the story is set primarily in Seville and that filming took place in Madrid, Seville, San Sebastián and other Spanish locations. The teaser announcement called Seville “the perfect setting to inspire our new heist.” That line is promotional wording from Netflix, not an independent assessment of the city, but it does confirm the creative choice behind the location.

How it connects to the earlier Berlin series
The new series follows Berlin and the Jewels of Paris, which Netflix describes as focusing on an earlier period of Berlin’s life. Netflix’s November 27, 2023 announcement gave the value of the jewels in that first heist as €44 million. The two stories differ mainly in location and target, while the central character and his crew remain the same.
| Element | Berlin and the Jewels of Paris | Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine |
|---|---|---|
| Setting | Paris | Seville (primary setting, per Netflix Tudum) |
