The headline does not name anyone, but the contestant it most likely refers to is Gil Ramirez, who appeared in Joan Vassos’s inaugural 2024 season of The Golden Bachelorette. In June 2024, a former girlfriend asked a court for a temporary restraining order alleging harassment and unwanted contact. Reporting said the order was granted temporarily and later dismissed for lack of prosecution after a July 24, 2024 hearing. Those facts describe a court filing and its procedural outcome. They are not a finding that the allegations are true or false. A second contestant, Guy Gansert, was the subject of separate coverage about a 2021 protection-order application that was withdrawn.
Which contestant the headline refers to
Coverage that matches this headline most closely centers on Ramirez, a contestant on the 2024 season that Vassos led. Readers searching for “What are the allegations against Gil from The Golden Bachelorette?” are most likely looking for him. The season is distinct from The Golden Bachelor, which debuted in fall 2023 with a separate cast. Gansert, another contestant on the 2024 season, also drew coverage, but about a different filing and a different time period, so the two matters are described separately below.
What the Ramirez filing alleges
According to reporting based on court documents, Ramirez’s former girlfriend filed for a temporary restraining order in June 2024. Cosmopolitan (Samantha Olson, September 23, 2024) quoted from her request: “Despite telling him to not contact me, come to my house — he made repeated unwanted contact with me, family members and friends.” The request reportedly described emotional harassment and said she had asked him not to contact her.
These are her claims as stated in the filing. Reporting does not describe any ruling on whether they are true, and this article does not treat them as established. Ramirez had not responded to comment requests made through ABC when Deseret News (Margaret Darby, September 25, 2024) published its report.

How the court matter ended
Deseret News reported that the temporary order was granted and was later dismissed after a hearing on July 24, 2024, for “lack of prosecution.” A dismissal for lack of prosecution generally means the party who sought the order did not pursue the case. It is not a ruling on the merits, so it neither confirms nor refutes the allegations.
What the show did after the filing
Cosmopolitan and Deseret News both reported that producers reduced Ramirez’s already limited screen time and minimized him in promotional material after the filing became known. Those details come from reporting rather than from a published production decision, and neither outlet quoted a producer on the record about the change.

Guy Gansert’s separate 2021 application
E! News (Corinne Heller, October 11, 2024) reported that Gansert’s former wife filed an application for a temporary protection order in 2021 and withdrew it three weeks later. Gansert said in a statement reported by E!: “This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse and was ultimately resolved when she voluntarily dismissed her request for a protective order.”
A production source told E! that the application was known during vetting and was never granted. Vassos, quoted by Deseret News (Margaret Darby, October 28, 2024), said she had not known the details of his interactions with his former wife and still believed “that he’s a kind and good person.” Her personal view of Gansert is not evidence about either the application or the allegations in it.

Does the franchise run background checks?
The reporting does not describe the franchise’s full screening process. It does include production’s account of timing. A source close to production told Cosmopolitan that the Ramirez filing “occurred in the brief period between completion of our thorough background investigation and exhaustive vetting process, and the beginning of production.” In other words, production says vetting was completed before that filing was made.
The same production-side accounts describe Gansert’s matter differently: it was known during vetting. Taken together, they show that screening took place and that the two matters reached production at different points. They do not show what checks were run, whether court records were searched, or why either matter was or was not identified before filming.

The two cases share a headline theme but differ on nearly every factual point that matters for a reader.

What the reporting does and does not establish
- It establishes that a former girlfriend sought a temporary restraining order in June 2024 and described harassment and unwanted contact in her request.
- It establishes that the order was reportedly granted temporarily and later dismissed for lack of prosecution after a July 24, 2024 hearing.
- It does not establish whether the alleged contact occurred or whether it was unwanted, and no reporting cited here describes a finding on the merits.
- It does not include Ramirez’s own account, since he had not responded to comment requests at the time of publication.
- It establishes that Gansert’s former wife withdrew a 2021 application, but not what led to it. Gansert’s characterization of the matter is his own.
- The production timing statements are attributed to unnamed sources close to production and are not independently verified in the coverage.
- All of these reports date from September and October 2024. They do not confirm the current status of either court matter. Anyone who needs the present docket should check the court where each filing was made.
