The first trailer and the March 18 announcement
The first trailer was the opening move in Sony’s campaign. Sony Pictures Japan’s announcement described its global release and stated that the film would open simultaneously in Japan and the United States. That single statement is the clearest official basis for the claim that the two markets shared a launch window.
The July 31, 2026 release date
The July 31 date had been public well before the trailers. Sony Pictures Japan’s April 1, 2025 announcement gave the same U.S. date, which means the studio had fixed the schedule more than a year before the first trailer. Sony’s later trailer materials repeated the date, so it is the most consistently stated date in the campaign.

Sony’s official gallery labels the second trailer “OFFICIAL TRAILER 2,” and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s YouTube listing dates it to June 17, 2026. The listing’s description is studio promotional copy, not independently verified plot detail. It says Peter Parker fights crime full-time in a world that no longer remembers him, and that pressure from seeing his old friends move on sparks a change he may not control.

The film is Tom Holland’s fourth as Spider-Man, according to Sony’s official film page, which is the only sourced framing of his role in the series that this article relies on.
