The film follows Christopher Reeve’s rise to fame, his portrayal of Superman in four films, his 1995 horse-riding accident and his later work in disability advocacy and care. According to the official film site, it draws on home movies and personal archive material, extended interviews with Reeve’s three children, and conversations with colleagues and friends.

Sky’s UK description says the documentary uses Reeve’s own words and names interview participants including Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels, Whoopi Goldberg and John Kerry. Its line describing a man who “refused to be defined by his physicality” is official promotional copy, not a quotation attributed to a named speaker.
Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui directed the documentary. The official site’s production and presentation credits include Passion Pictures, Misfits Entertainment, Words + Pictures, DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films and CNN Films.
