In a PEOPLE exclusive published December 16, 2024, Meri Brown said she and Robyn Brown do not talk much and have little interaction. She described the relationship as one-sided during the COVID period, when she was often the one who called. The interview is the most recent detailed account of their relationship that the sources here establish, and it dates from 2024, not 2026.
What Meri Brown said, and when
The remark that drew attention came in a PEOPLE exclusive, later carried by Yahoo Entertainment. Meri Brown told the magazine: “Robyn and I don’t really talk a lot.” The interview was published on December 16, 2024. Any reference to the remark should carry that date, because it describes the relationship as of late 2024 and does not describe a new statement made this year.

Effort that was not returned
Meri’s account goes beyond infrequent conversation. She said that during the COVID period she was often the person who initiated calls, and that the effort was not returned. She put it in terms of mutuality: “I really believe that a relationship has to be reciprocal and it wasn’t reciprocal.” These are her words and her perception of the relationship. The report does not independently verify how often either woman called.
Bonnie Brown’s funeral
The interview also covers Robyn’s absence from the funeral of Meri’s mother, Bonnie. Meri said she was hurt that Robyn did not attend.

Robyn’s explanation, as it appears in the show footage described in the report, centered on COVID. She cited quarantine and the demands of caring for her children. Her words were: “I wish I could have [been there for Meri], I love Bonnie and I wanted to be supportive to Meri and I would have been there in a heartbeat if it hadn’t been the situation that we were dealing with with COVID.”
The two accounts answer different questions. Meri’s is about the hurt she felt. Robyn’s is about the circumstances that limited her. The report presents both without deciding which is the full story.
Rank #2
Meri’s explanation for the distance
Meri connected the reduced contact to her departure from the family. She suggested that Robyn was likely adjusting to a life different from what she had expected. That is Meri’s speculation about Robyn’s feelings, not something Robyn has confirmed. Meri also said the two were not in the same place in their lives: “Our paths just are not aligned. We’re not living parallel lives right now. But they might cross. I never know.”
What the 2024 interview can and cannot establish
- Established: Meri said the two do not talk much and have little interaction. She said she had often initiated contact during COVID without reciprocation, and that Robyn did not attend Bonnie’s funeral.
- Not established: A total break in contact. Meri described limited interaction, not no interaction at all.
- Not established: A new conflict. The “tensions build” framing refers to the distance and unresolved hurt described in the 2024 report. The report does not describe a fresh argument or escalation.
- Not established: Their current relationship. A 2024 interview cannot show whether they speak now.
TLC’s official Sister Wives page, checked October 8, 2026, still lists the series and its Season 21 material. That confirms the program’s current status. It does not show anything about a personal exchange between Meri and Robyn.

For readers who want the family’s own account, the Simon & Schuster catalog lists Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage by Kody Brown, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown. The book is background about the family and the show. It is not cited in the PEOPLE interview.
