Rush Hour 4 is being pursued, with Brett Ratner attached to direct and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reported as expected leads. A production-industry directory labeled the film “In Production” on October 2, 2026, but its listing conflicts about the project’s stage and schedule. The cited reporting does not establish a confirmed release date, signed deals for either star, or independently verified filming.
Is Rush Hour 4 actually happening?
A fourth feature sequel is in development, but the available reports do not make every part of its production status equally certain. Variety reported in November 2025 that the sequel was moving forward with Brett Ratner returning as director and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker expected to reprise their roles. In April 2026, Puck reported that neither actor had signed a deal at that time and that financing remained uncertain.

Production List, a Film & Television Industry Alliance directory, labeled the project “In Production” in a listing updated October 2, 2026. That is a directory status, not an official studio announcement. The same listing also describes the project as entering pre-production and gives schedule details that do not align with one another, so it should not be treated as proof that filming is underway.
When does Rush Hour 4 come out?
No confirmed release date is established by the cited reporting. Variety said the timeline was unclear in November 2025, and later coverage discussed production plans rather than announcing a release date. There is no supported date or release window to put on a calendar.

Are Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 4?
Both actors have been reported as expected to return, but they were not confirmed as signed cast members in the most specific negotiation update available here. Variety reported their expected involvement in November 2025. Puck reported in April 2026 that neither had signed a deal after rejecting initial offers reportedly set at $8 million each. Those figures describe reported offers, not confirmed salaries or final agreements.
Who is directing, and who is producing?
Brett Ratner is attached to direct, according to Variety’s November 2025 report and the later Production List entry. Production List names Arthur Sarkissian and Tarak Ben Ammar as producers; Puck also reported their involvement in negotiations and financing. The cited sources do not establish that all production arrangements are finalized.

Has Rush Hour 4 started filming?
That has not been independently confirmed by the cited reporting. Production List’s October 2, 2026 listing uses the status “In Production,” but its own project summary says the film enters pre-production, and its schedule fields conflict with its narrative about a planned shoot. Earlier reporting described intended scheduling and location plans; it does not verify that principal photography began or is continuing.
Where is the sequel expected to film?
The October 2026 Production List entry names China and Saudi Arabia. Earlier reports described plans that were not identical: Puck mentioned Africa in the planned itinerary in April 2026, while Variety reported in May that Ratner planned to shoot in China and was reportedly scouting locations. These are reported or listed plans, not confirmation that filming occurred in any of those places.

What is known about distribution and financing?
The Associated Press reported in November 2025 that Paramount was in closing talks to distribute the film for a fee and would not finance it. Puck reported in April 2026 that production financing was not clearly secured. Production List later named Warner Bros. Studio and Paramount+ among attached companies, but its directory entry does not establish a complete financing package or resolve the earlier uncertainty. Puck also reported a planned budget of $115–120 million; that remains an attributed, unsettled figure rather than a confirmed production budget.
