It pairs a new English translation with a new edition of the Sanskrit text in Devanagari, making it a practical choice for readers who want the poem and its original-language text together. The volume is edited and translated by Csaba Dezső, Dominic Goodall, and Harunaga Isaacson.
What is Raghuvaṃśa about?
Raghuvaṃśa is a Sanskrit mahākāvya, or court poem, centered on the Solar Dynasty of kings who rule from Ayodhya. The publisher’s synopsis follows the line across several generations: Dilipa seeks an heir; his son Raghu leads a conquest that opens out into a panorama of the subcontinent; the exploits of Rama form another major episode; and the debaucheries of Agnivarna put the dynasty’s future at risk. This arc gives the poem a dynastic scope rather than limiting it to a single hero’s story. Murty Classical Library of India’s synopsis

How should readers choose among editions?
The main practical distinction is what you want beside the poem: an English translation alone, or Sanskrit in Devanagari alongside English. For this edition, the original-language text and translation are both part of the volume. If you are comparing translations, look at the edition and translator credits, then consider whether scholarly aids such as an introduction, annotations, bibliography, or glossary matter for your reading. The sources establish the format and credits of this volume, but do not provide a basis for ranking it against other translations.
