That is $189,642,436 domestic and $444,500,000 international. The headline attached to this milestone also claims the film passed a Michael Bay film on a rating-based comparison. That comparison could not be confirmed from the article text available when checked, so this piece separates the box-office figures you can verify from the claim you should treat as unproven.
The worldwide box-office figures
Both databases report the same headline totals. Each figure is a theatrical gross as reported by the database. None of them is audited revenue, studio income or profit.
| Market | Reported gross | Listed by |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic (US and Canada) | $189,642,436 | The Numbers; Box Office Mojo |
| International | $444,500,000 | The Numbers; Box Office Mojo |
| Worldwide | $634,142,436 | The Numbers; Box Office Mojo |
The Numbers also gives the domestic opening weekend as $57,001,667. Domestic is the film’s total in the United States and Canada, and the worldwide figure is the sum of the domestic and international totals.
Release dates, rating and runtime
- International release: June 25, 2025. Box Office Mojo lists this as the earliest date for the EMEA and APAC regions.
- Domestic wide release: June 27, 2025, with Warner Bros. as the domestic theatrical distributor (The Numbers).
- Home video: August 22, 2025, released by Warner Home Video (The Numbers). This records a release date. It does not show what any retailer currently sells.
- Rating: PG-13 for strong language and action (The Numbers; Box Office Mojo also lists PG-13).
- Runtime: 156 minutes on The Numbers. Box Office Mojo lists 2 hours 35 minutes, which is 155 minutes. The one-minute gap is a difference between the two databases, not a different cut of the film.
The film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who returns to mentor a rookie, Joshua “Noah” Pearce, at the Apex Grand Prix team. The Numbers credits Apple Original Films and Plan B Entertainment among the production and financing companies.

What the Michael Bay comparison does and does not establish
The headline, “‘F1’ Passes Final Global Box Office Milestone by Overtaking Michael Bay’s Worst-Rated Bomb,” appears in an IMDb News item dated August 24, 2025. The article text did not load when the page was checked, so the claim could not be traced to its underlying evidence. The source does not establish:
- which Michael Bay film is meant;
- which rating source ranked it as worst, and when that ranking was taken;
- whether “bomb” is a measured result or a critic’s label;
- which gross figure was used for the comparison film.
Two other limits matter. First, “final” describes a point in time. Box-office databases are updated, so $634,142,436 is the total listed on October 8, 2026, not a guaranteed last figure. Second, a low rating says nothing about commercial performance. A film can rank poorly with critics and still earn more than a film rated higher, and the reverse is also true. Keep the rating claim and the box-office claim separate when you read any headline like this one.

How to check a box-office milestone claim yourself
- Open The Numbers title page for F1: The Movie (2025) and note the worldwide, domestic and international totals, plus the date you accessed it.
- Open the Box Office Mojo title page and confirm that its totals match. If they differ, record both figures and both dates rather than choosing one.
- Identify the comparison film on a database page and pull its worldwide gross, not its domestic gross, so you compare like with like.
- Find the rating the headline relies on. Record the rating source, the score, and the date it was published.
- Check whether each total includes later re-releases. A re-release can change a film’s cumulative gross without changing its original run.
What a gross figure does not tell you
- Gross is not profit. A worldwide gross is money taken at the box office before distributors, exhibitors, marketing and other costs are deducted. The sources here do not give the production budget, marketing spend or net receipts, so they cannot show whether the film made money overall.
- Databases can differ. Two sites can list different totals for the same film at different times, usually because one updates faster or counts certain markets differently.
- A milestone is a comparison, not a verdict. Passing another film’s gross tells you about relative ticket sales only, and only if both figures are measured the same way.
For this film, the verifiable facts are the worldwide, domestic and international grosses, the release dates and the rating. The Michael Bay comparison remains a claim that needs its own source before it can be repeated as fact.
Box Office Mojo’s title page is at Box Office Mojo, and the film’s financial page on The Numbers is at The Numbers.
