Lifetime’s Dance Moms: The Reunion premiered Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 8/7c. Lifetime announced it as a two-hour special, but its episode listing records the program itself at 1h 21min. Both figures are accurate; they describe different things. This guide explains the difference, who the announcement names as returning dancers, how the special was offered to viewers, and what surrounded it.
Two hours on the schedule, 1h 21min on the episode
Lifetime promoted the reunion as a two-hour special. That phrase describes the event slot Lifetime announced for its broadcast. The network’s episode catalog lists the program titled “The Reunion” at 1h 21min, which is the runtime a viewer would see on the episode record. Readers searching for “two hours” should treat it as the scheduled event length, not as the listed length of the program.
| Item | What the source records | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Premiere | Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 8/7c on Lifetime | Lifetime’s announcement article |
| Announced format | Two-hour special | Lifetime’s announcement article |
| Listed episode runtime | 1h 21min | Lifetime’s episode catalog, aired May 1, 2024 |
| Rating | TV-PG; captions indicated | Lifetime’s episode catalog |
| App streaming | Announced to begin May 2, 2024 | Lifetime’s announcement article |
The gap between the two figures is not a sign that part of the event was missing from the listing. A viewer should expect the program’s listed length, and should not assume the full two hours was a single 1h 21min episode.
Who the announcement names
Lifetime named six returning dancers in its announcement:

That list is the set the network named. It is not a full roster of everyone who appears in the program. The episode listing describes the special as including “new interviews with fan favorite dancers as they look back,” which is the network’s own description of the content rather than a summary of who took part.
How viewers could watch
Lifetime’s where-to-watch guide, written around the 2024 campaign, lists two routes: on-demand and app viewing, and live viewing through a TV provider. Provider packages and eligibility change, so the guide’s provider list shows what was offered when it was written, not what is available today. Check the provider’s current terms before you subscribe or sign in.

On demand and in the Lifetime app
The guide says the special was available on demand and in the Lifetime app. Lifetime’s announcement also said all eight seasons of Dance Moms were available in its app at the time that article was published. That availability was a campaign-period statement, so confirm the current catalog directly in the app.
Live through a TV provider
The guide lists the following providers as options for live viewing or app access: Comcast Xfinity, Cox, DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, Dish, FrndlyTV, Hulu + Live TV, Mediacom, NOW TV, Optimum, Philo, Sling TV, Spectrum, and Verizon Fios. The guide also warns that packages vary. This article does not compare prices, free-trial lengths, channel bundles, or regional availability, because the guide gives no current terms for them.

The FrndlyTV sign-in limitation
The guide states that FrndlyTV could be used to watch Lifetime programming in FrndlyTV’s own app, but could not be used to sign in to the Lifetime app at the time the page was written. A viewer who relies on FrndlyTV should confirm whether that limitation still applies before counting on it for Lifetime app access.

Lifetime announced more than nine hours of exclusive Dance Moms digital content rolling out through March and April 2024, ahead of the special. That figure is the network’s announced content total from its 2024 campaign. It is not the runtime of the reunion.

Dance Moms: Epic Showdowns
Lifetime said Dance Moms: Epic Showdowns would follow the reunion directly, with half-hour episodes hosted by Christi Lukasiak. The network said those episodes would be available in the app the following day. Its catalog lists Epic Showdowns episodes after the reunion.
Beyond the Reunion (2025 listings)
The same catalog separately lists Beyond the Reunion episodes dated May 1 to 10, 2025, including “Extended Family,” “Rivalries,” “When Dances Go Wrong,” and “Best Dance Moments.” These are a separate 2025 listing and should not be read as part of the May 2024 event.
