The Ender Dragon is the villain fans have asked to see, according to producer Roy Lee—but that is not confirmation that it will appear in the sequel. The film, now titled A Minecraft Movie Squared, is scheduled for July 23, 2027, and neither the Ender Dragon nor another character has been confirmed as its antagonist in the cited reports.
Is the Ender Dragon in A Minecraft Movie Squared?
It has not been confirmed. On February 19, 2026, GameSpot quoted producer Roy Lee describing fan requests for the Ender Dragon: “A lot of people said, ‘Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it.’ I think that’s what a lot of the requests have been.” GameSpot noted that it remained to be seen whether the character would appear. GameSpot’s report attributes the remark to Lee’s conversation with Collider; the quote is evidence of requests he had heard, not a casting or plot announcement.
There is also no published poll or count establishing that the Ender Dragon is objectively the franchise’s “most requested” villain. Lee’s comment supports the narrower claim that he had heard many fans ask for it.
Who is the villain in the sequel?
No antagonist has been confirmed in the cited coverage. The Ender Dragon is the subject of Lee’s fan-request remark, while Herobrine speculation concerns Matt Berry’s unconfirmed role. Those are different kinds of evidence, and neither establishes who—or what—will oppose the heroes.
