On September 13, 2025, at the Born & Raised Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock came face to face across a chain-link fence topped with barbed wire, shortly before Adcock was scheduled to perform. Video described by several outlets shows Bryan yelling toward Adcock, climbing over the fence, and being held back by security. Reports describe a heated confrontation or near-fight. They do not establish that the two men completed a physical fight.

What happened at the fence

The sequence below is drawn from the Los Angeles Times account of the clips, which describes Adcock’s Instagram video and other footage. Each step reflects what the videos show as described by reporters, not an independent review of the footage.

  1. Setting: The festival was in Pryor, Oklahoma, and the encounter took place just before Adcock’s set.
  2. Separation: The two artists were on opposite sides of a chain-link fence topped with barbed wire.
  3. Verbal exchange: Bryan yelled toward Adcock. The Los Angeles Times quotes Bryan from the video as saying, “Hey, you want to fight like a man?”
  4. Attempt to cross: Bryan climbed over the fence.
  5. Intervention: Security held Bryan back. No report describes a physical blow being landed.

Headlines differ in how they frame the location. A Rolling Stone Australia headline calls the incident a “backstage altercation,” while the video-based accounts place the two men on either side of the fence. The fence description is the more consistently reported detail.

Who said what

Most of what is publicly known comes from Adcock, either in his social-media post or in later remarks. Bryan’s own account of the confrontation has not appeared in the reporting. The table separates each claim from its source and its current status.

He had provoked Bryan until Bryan jumped the fence. Adcock Adcock’s account of his own conduct and Bryan’s reaction. Not independently confirmed.

Because the quotations come from secondary coverage of social-media posts and videos, readers should treat them as reported wording. Full transcripts of the clips were not published in the reporting.

Did the two men fight?

The available coverage supports describing the incident as a heated confrontation or near-fight. It does not support saying the men fought. The clearest documented physical event is Bryan climbing the fence, followed by security holding him back. Anyone describing the encounter as a fight is going beyond what the reports establish.

The public feud behind the confrontation

Coverage traces the public tension to July 2025, when Adcock criticized Bryan after a fan described waiting for Bryan after a show. That criticism explains the backdrop to the feud. It does not establish what private dispute, if any, led to the festival encounter, and no source in the reporting identifies one.

What remains unconfirmed

  • Bryan’s account: As of the Los Angeles Times report, representatives for both artists had not immediately responded to requests for comment. Bryan’s own version of events does not appear in the coverage reviewed here.
  • Adcock’s allegations: The “death threats” claim and the account of provocation come from Adcock alone.
  • Exact wording: Quotations are as reported by outlets. The clips and posts themselves are the primary sources for exact wording.
  • Later developments: The reporting cited here runs through September 15, 2025. Any statements, apologies, or further incidents after that date are not covered in this article.
