The first-season finale of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man loops back to Peter Parker’s first spider bite, then leaves several possible paths open for what comes next. A symbiote fragment in Norman Osborn’s hands and glimpses of Otto Octavius, Nico Minoru, Harry’s company WEB, and Peter’s imprisoned father invite comic-book comparisons—but the show has not confirmed that it will adapt any specific comics storyline.
How does the finale connect to the premiere?
The two-part finale brings the season’s origin story back into its final conflict. Norman Osborn’s Project Monolith, a portal project, draws Doctor Strange and Spider-Man into a confrontation with a symbiotic alien. During the portal sequence, a spider passes through and bites Peter—the mysterious bite seen at the beginning of the series. Doctor Strange sends the symbiote back through the portal, but a small fragment remains behind, where Norman finds it.
The episode makes the bite part of the finale’s resolution, creating a loop between Peter’s origin and the events that follow. It does not, however, spell out a full set of rules for how the time loop works. The scene details are described in GamesRadar+’s finale account; ComicBook.com’s recap also notes the return to the premiere’s bite.
Which comic-book storylines does it set up?
The finale plants recognizable character and story possibilities, but a familiar comic-book connection is not confirmation of a direct adaptation. The series is a fresh take on the Marvel Comics character, and its choices belong to its own continuity.

| Finale thread | Comic-book context | What the show establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Norman and the symbiote fragment | Spider-Man comics include the Venom tradition, and Norman later becomes connected to the Carnage symbiote as Red Goblin. | Norman finds a fragment after the larger symbiote is sent back through the portal. The finale does not identify what Norman will do with it or confirm a particular symbiote storyline. |
| Otto Octavius’s tentacle suit | Otto has a long history in Spider-Man comics as Doctor Octopus. | A prison scene shows him with a tentacle-suit design, suggesting a possible return to that identity. It does not confirm an escape or a revenge plan. |
| Nico Minoru and her mother | The finale sources do not establish a specific comic storyline behind this relationship. | A mysterious exchange involving Nico and her mother is left unexplained. |
| Lonnie Lincoln and Harry’s WEB company | The finale’s unresolved supporting-character threads do not establish a named comic arc. | Lonnie’s position in his gang remains unsettled, while Harry’s company, WEB, introduces another part of the show’s world. |
| Richard Parker | The finale sources do not establish a specific comic parallel for this reveal. | Peter’s father is shown in prison; the reason and consequences are unanswered. |
Marvel’s Spider-Man character reference provides broad context for the character’s comic history, including the Venom and Doctor Octopus connections. That history helps explain why the finale’s images may feel familiar, but it does not establish issue-level parallels or predict what the series will do next.
What has the creative team confirmed about future stories?
Official Disney coverage describes the series as an original take that gives Peter more time as the person behind the mask. The official ABC series description likewise emphasizes Peter’s path toward becoming a hero and the show’s celebration of the character’s early comic-book roots.
In a February 5, 2025 feature, head writer, executive producer, and showrunner Jeff Trammell described the first season as world-building: “I look at Season 1 like we’re building this world and we’re setting the board. In Season 2 and future seasons, now we’re playing the game.” That comment supports reading the finale’s unresolved threads as intentional setup. It does not name a comic arc or promise a one-to-one adaptation. Trammell also said, “We spend a lot more time with Peter in our series,” underscoring the show’s character-centered approach.

Readers interested in the characters’ comic-book histories can explore Spider-Man comics or collected editions. The finale does not point to one definitive collection, and the comparisons above are broad context rather than a reading list tied to confirmed adaptations.
