The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner (DME) has certified that YouTuber Philip Enewally, known online as P2istheName, died of sudden cardiac dysfunction due to solitary papillary muscle hypertrophy, and that the manner of death was natural. The determination was published June 10, 2025. Enewally was found unresponsive at his residence on March 14, 2025, and the official record does not place his death in a mailroom. That detail came from an early TMZ report, and this update separates it from the official findings.
The official finding
The DME’s June 10, 2025 release is the controlling source for how Enewally died. It identifies him as 26-year-old YouTuber Philip Enewally, known as P2istheName, under case number 2025-04725. The key determinations are:
- Cause of death: sudden cardiac dysfunction due to solitary papillary muscle hypertrophy.
- Manner of death: natural. In the DME’s words, “The manner of death is natural.” The statement is from the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner’s June 10, 2025 determination.
- Date found: March 14, 2025, when he was found unresponsive at his residence.
- Pronouncement: responding fire department personnel pronounced death at 15:11 on March 14, 2025.
- Examination: a deputy medical examiner completed the examination on March 16, 2025, and the cause and manner were certified on June 10, 2025.
What the medical examiner’s terms mean
The cause of death is more specific than the phrase “heart problem” that circulated in early coverage, and it should be read as the DME wrote it. The DME did not describe the death as a heart attack, and this update does not substitute that label.
Solitary papillary muscle hypertrophy
The DME describes solitary papillary muscle hypertrophy as a subtype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart muscle thickens, and the DME identifies this subtype as a risk factor for a sudden fatal cardiac event. The DME’s finding is that the thickened papillary muscle, one of the small muscles inside the heart that anchors its valve structures, was the condition underlying the sudden cardiac dysfunction it recorded. The release does not describe any prior diagnosis, symptoms or treatment for Enewally, and none should be inferred from the listed cause.

What “natural” means in a death certificate
In medical examiner practice, a natural manner means the death resulted from disease or a natural process rather than from injury, poisoning or another external cause. The classification is about how the death is categorized, not a separate finding about the circumstances around it.

Where the mailroom account came from
The mailroom detail appears in TMZ’s March 15, 2025 report, which said Enewally was found dead in a mailroom and attributed that detail to the Los Angeles County Coroner. TMZ also reported that a family member confirmed the death to the outlet and asked for privacy. Those statements are TMZ’s account, and they are not reproduced in the DME’s June 10, 2025 release, which says only that he was found unresponsive at his residence.

The two accounts therefore differ on where he was found, and the official record does not confirm the mailroom location. Readers should treat the DME release as the authoritative source on location, cause and manner.

- The full case report. The DME has said a full report would be released later. The release that certified cause and manner is the most recent determination this update relies on, and no later full report was among the sources reviewed.
- Circumstances of the death. Neither the DME release nor the family’s statements to TMZ, as reported there, describe what happened in the hours before he was found.
- Medical history. The DME’s release names the cause and the condition but does not describe a history of symptoms, diagnosis or treatment.
- Background beyond his public work. TMZ described Enewally as known for NBA 2K, Fortnite and other gaming videos, and reported that he had a clothing line. Those details are the outlet’s, and they do not bear on the official finding.
Anyone reporting further on this case should cite the June 10, 2025 DME determination for cause and manner, and attribute the mailroom detail to TMZ.
