As of the latest reporting surfaced on September 2, 2026, Peacemaker season 3 has not been announced. After season 2 ended, James Gunn said he had no plans for a third season at that time and indicated that the story’s future belonged to the wider DC Universe (DCU). That leaves room for the characters to appear elsewhere, but it is not a renewal or a season 3 release-date announcement.
Has Peacemaker been renewed or canceled?
Neither a season 3 order nor a permanent cancellation is confirmed in the latest reporting available here. A September 2, 2026 GamesRadar+ report said the show’s future had not been confirmed. “Not announced” is the most accurate description: Gunn’s earlier comments about having no plans at that time are not proof that the series can never return.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s official pressroom identifies Peacemaker as a Max Original and records that HBO Max renewed it for season 2. That history confirms the second season’s renewal, not a third season order.
What did James Gunn say about season 3?
Following the season 2 finale in October 2025, Gunn said there were no current plans for a third season and expected the story to continue through the broader DCU. In a post-finale press conference, he answered “No” when asked about season 3, as reported by ComicBook.com. Read that answer in its context: it described the plans at the time, rather than announcing a permanent end to the show.

Could Peacemaker characters return in another DCU project?
Yes, that possibility is separate from whether Peacemaker gets another season. In the September 2026 report, Gunn replied “Ok” to a fan asking whether Vigilante might return in some form. That brief response does not confirm a specific project, appearance, or season 3.
Gunn’s comments point to the wider DCU as the place where the story could continue, but no particular project or character return is confirmed by the reporting cited here. A DCU appearance would not, by itself, mean the series had been renewed.

A confirmed season 3 would require an actual announcement or order; speculation about a character appearing elsewhere is not the same thing. For a change in status, look for a new notice from the Warner Bros. Discovery pressroom or a clear statement from Gunn. Until then, the supported answer remains that no third season has been announced.
