No. Taylor Swift did not attend the 2025 Met Gala, which was held on Monday, May 5, 2025, in Manhattan. Because the event has already taken place, the question is now retrospective: the answer is that she was not there.
Why Swift was not there, as reported
Teen Vogue’s post-event coverage states that Swift did not attend. It also reports, citing TMZ, that Swift and Travis Kelce were invited but “could not make it work as a result of their schedules.” That explanation is attributed to TMZ through Teen Vogue. It is not a statement that Swift or Kelce made directly, and no direct comment from either of them about the absence was found in the sources reviewed.
Her previous Met Gala appearance
According to Teen Vogue, Swift’s last Met Gala appearance was in 2016. Its coverage framed the 2025 event as a missed return rather than a new absence, which is the only historical context needed to understand why the question drew attention.
The 2025 theme and dress code
The 2025 dress code was “Tailored for You,” tied to the Costume Institute exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The Associated Press described the exhibition as the basis for the event’s theme. Vogue described the dress code as a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and as “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.” That description is Vogue’s own wording, not a quotation from a named individual.

The theme explains what guests were asked to wear. It says nothing about why any particular guest did or did not attend, and it should not be read as a factor in Swift’s absence.
Where the event is documented
Vogue published a livestream page for the May 5, 2025 gala, which can be rewatched, and AP reported on the event while it was underway. Both are useful for seeing who was present on the night, and both confirm the date and location used here.
