In a July 2024 interview, Snoop Dogg said he did not drink at all. But the interview did not explain why he stopped, when he stopped, or how he did it. The public account supports a careful answer about what he said—not a detailed story of recovery or a confirmed sobriety timeline.
What Snoop Dogg said about drinking
During a July 2024 conversation with The Standard about tasting Gin & Juice, Snoop said, “Dr Dre, he really likes gin. I really like this shit.” The reporter then noted that Snoop “doesn’t drink at all.” The statement is evidence of what he said in that interview; it does not establish when his drinking changed or what prompted it.
Why did he quit drinking?
The interview does not give a reason. It does not mention a health concern, personal decision, treatment, support group, or other explanation. The available account therefore does not establish why he said he was not drinking.
How did he stop drinking, and when?
No method or date is provided in the cited reporting. It would be inaccurate to describe Snoop as having followed a particular recovery program or to assign him a sobriety date based on this interview. The report establishes only that he said he did not drink in July 2024.

How that compares with his earlier comments about gin
In a March 2021 Forbes interview about his Indoggo gin brand, Snoop described himself as a gin consumer and discussed enjoying gin cocktails. That is dated context from an earlier interview, but it does not pinpoint when or why his reported drinking changed.
What his alcohol-brand work does—and doesn’t—show
In 2024, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre launched the Gin & Juice canned cocktail and premium gin Still G.I.N., according to the Associated Press. That business activity can coexist with his reported statement that he did not drink: promoting or helping launch an alcohol brand does not, on its own, show personal consumption.

What the public account leaves unanswered
A 2024 PEOPLE cover story republished on Snoop Dogg’s official site covered his career evolution but did not supply the missing explanation about alcohol. Based on these sources, his reason, method, and timing remain unstated.
