Pawn Stars has never publicly given a reason for removing Olivia Black from the series. In December 2012 Black said she had been let go from the show but not from Gold & Silver Pawn, and that she had not been told why. Her removal came shortly after earlier nude modeling photographs of her became public, and press coverage linked the two events. No official explanation tying them together has been established. In 2013 Rick Harrison said, “I never fired her,” and blamed the production company. Black left the shop herself in April 2013.
What the headline gets right, and what needs qualifying
The question behind the headline is real, and the answer is mostly a matter of who said what in 2012 and 2013. Three parts of the headline need correction before the story makes sense.

- “Fired” is not the whole story. The reporting describes two separate employment relationships. Black was removed from the on-camera series first. Her job at the Gold & Silver Pawn shop was initially not affected, and she left the shop months later.
- “Only female member” is not verified. The contemporaneous reports describe Black as the cast member at the center of this story. They do not establish whether she was the show’s only female regular over its run, so the word “only” should be treated as unconfirmed.
- “13 episodes” is a reported count. Later secondary coverage, including a Looper article, repeats that Black appeared in 13 episodes. The 2012 and 2013 interviews do not list her episodes, so the figure should be read as a repeated claim rather than a checked fact.
Who Olivia Black was on the show and at the shop
Black worked at Gold & Silver Pawn and appeared on Pawn Stars, the HISTORY series built around the shop and the Harrison family. Her on-screen role and her shop employment were separate, which is why the reporting treats her departure from each in different terms.

| Date | Source | What was reported |
|---|---|---|
| December 20, 2012 | Fox News | Black was reported removed after her earlier modeling photographs surfaced. Her own social-media post had tied the two together, but she later said she was not claiming that was the reason she was let go. |
| December 26, 2012 | FOX 411 interview with Black | Black said Rick Harrison told her she had been let go from the show and not from the shop. She said she did not have the actual reason. |
| October 8, 2013 | FOX 411 interview with Harrison, and report on Black’s departure | Harrison said he had not fired her and that the production company did not want her working there anymore. The same report says Black left her shop job in April 2013. |
Why she was let go: three accounts
No single account settles the question. Each party’s version is listed separately below, with the limits of what it establishes.
Black’s account (December 2012)
Black’s position was that the production never explained the decision to her. She said in a FOX 411 interview:

- “I don’t have the actual reason as to why I am not a part of the show anymore.”
- “[Rick Harrison] let me know I was actually only let go from the show and not the shop.”
She did not say that the photographs were the reason, and she distanced herself from her own earlier post that had connected them.
The modeling photographs (press framing, not a confirmed motive)
Coverage at the time placed Black’s removal shortly after the public appearance of earlier nude modeling photographs, and that timing drove much of the headline framing. The reporting reviewed, however, does not contain an official statement from HISTORY or the production company giving the photographs as the reason. Treat the link as press interpretation of timing, not as a documented motive.

Harrison’s account (October 2013)
Nearly a year later, Harrison told FOX 411:
- “I never fired her. She’s out doing her own thing now. It’s just the production company did not want her working there anymore. What she does in her personal life…is her business.”
This account puts the decision with the production company, not with Harrison or the shop. It does not explain what the production company’s reasons were.
When and how she left the shop
Black’s shop employment ended later than her show role. According to the October 2013 FOX 411 report, she left in April 2013. She described the decision this way: “It was very apparent my time there was done.” The report does not describe any formal termination from the shop, so the shop departure is best described as her own account of leaving.

A 2013 report says Black’s representative advised her to sue over the departure. Advice to sue is not evidence that a case was filed. The reporting reviewed does not confirm any lawsuit, court record, settlement, or finding of discrimination, and none of those should be assumed.
What remains unknown
The contemporaneous reports leave three questions open. The network did not immediately comment to FOX 411, so no official reason from HISTORY is on record in these sources. The production company is not quoted giving its own reasons. And the episode count of 13 has not been checked against a cast record. Any account that presents the modeling photographs as the confirmed reason for the removal goes beyond what the reporting establishes.
