He announced in November 2023 that season 16 would be his last; his farewell episode aired with the season finale on May 16, 2025.
Why did Mark Cuban leave Shark Tank?
Cuban said he wanted to be more present for his children while they were still teenagers and at home. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, quoted by the Los Angeles Times on November 28, 2023, he explained: “I just want to have a couple summers with my teens before they go off on their own.”
He later described the practical conflict: filming took place in June and September, when his children were getting out of school. In remarks Cuban made to TheWrap in October 2024, as reported in its May 2025 finale coverage, he said he was “tired of missing” the chance to spend that time with them.
Did Cuban leave because he disliked the show?
No. Cuban explicitly rejected that explanation. In the same interview quoted by the Los Angeles Times, he said: “Nothing to do with the show. I love it. I love being on it. I love what [it] represents and how it motivates entrepreneurs around the world.” His stated reason was family time, not dissatisfaction with the program.

When did he announce his departure, and when was his last episode?
Cuban announced his plan on the All the Smoke podcast in November 2023. ABC News reported that he said: “This is our 15th year. Next year, 16th year, is going to be my last year.” When a host joked that he was hanging up his shoes, Cuban replied, “it’s time.”
ABC’s season 16 materials identified the 2024–25 season as his final appearance. The network scheduled his farewell for the season finale on Friday, May 16, 2025; TheWrap reported that the episode aired that night and included a tribute segment. In his farewell, Cuban said: “This show changed me. I think I changed the show, and I think we all together as sharks, changed America.”

What does “after 14 years” mean?
Cuban first appeared as a guest Shark in 2011, in season 2, and his farewell came in 2025. That is a calendar span of about 14 years. It does not mean he appeared in only 14 seasons: TheWrap describes his run on the panel as 15 seasons. The show’s season number and the number of seasons in which Cuban appeared are different counts.
ABC’s season 16 biography identifies 2011 as his first appearance and season 16 as his final one. The departure was Cuban’s exit from the panel, not an announcement that Shark Tank itself was ending.
