Fans appear to have mistaken a fictional pairing and fan-made edits for evidence about the actors themselves. After It became popular, some fans shipped characters Eddie and Richie, then extended that pairing to Finn Wolfhard and Jack Dylan Grazer, calling the actor pairing “Fack.” The contemporary coverage reviewed here does not establish that the actors dated or confirm a relationship.
How the speculation took shape
The 2017 film It brought attention to its young cast and inspired fans to create stories and edits pairing Eddie and Richie. Some fans then applied the same romantic framing to the actors who played them, Finn Wolfhard and Jack Dylan Grazer. Teen Vogue described this overlap between character shipping and actor-focused fan content in an October 19, 2017 report. Read Teen Vogue’s report.

In that coverage, “Reddie” referred to the fictional Eddie–Richie pairing, while “Fack” was the reported ship name for Finn and Jack. Fan videos and comments used romantic language, but the existence of those edits documents fan activity—not a real relationship.
What the reported comment said
Teen Vogue reproduced a YouTube comment from an account it said BuzzFeed News had identified as Jack Grazer’s. The commenter objected to people taking “Reddie” seriously and saying the commenter was gay or had a crush on Finn. Because the account attribution is reported rather than independently authenticated in the coverage reviewed here, the comment should be described as one attributed to Grazer, not treated as verified speech.

Teen Vogue also said it sought comment from both actors and that Finn’s representatives said he was unavailable. That is not confirmation of a relationship. The report does not establish that the actors dated, and it does not report a confirmation from either of them.
What contemporaneous coverage can—and cannot—show
Vogue México also covered the fan shipping and the reported comment on January 1, 2018, describing the account as believed to be Grazer’s. Its Spanish-language article shows that the discussion was covered at the time; it is not independent proof of a relationship or of the account’s identity. Read Vogue México’s coverage.
Teen Vogue reported that two fan videos had more than 460,000 and more than 290,000 views in the month before its October 19, 2017 article. Those are historical counts cited in that report, not current view totals or evidence that viewers believed the actors were dating. The coverage does not provide a broader statistic showing how many fans accepted the rumor.

The key distinction is between a fan-created romantic interpretation of fictional characters and a factual claim about the performers. Fans can write or edit a pairing without the actors being a couple. The contemporaneous reports document the “Reddie” and “Fack” fan discourse, but they do not verify that Wolfhard and Grazer were romantically involved.
