Seasmoke’s new rider is Addam of Hull, played by Clinton Liberty. Season 2, Episode 6, “Smallfolk,” shows Seasmoke pursuing Addam; Episode 7, “The Red Sowing,” confirms that the dragon has claimed him.
How the show confirms Seasmoke’s rider
After Rhaenyra’s attempt to have Ser Steffon Darklyn claim Seasmoke fails, the dragon seeks out Addam. Episode 6 presents their encounter, but cuts away before showing Addam mount and fly on Seasmoke, as The Guardian’s recap notes.
Episode 7 makes the bond clear: Rhaenyra finds Addam with Seasmoke, and Addam tells her that the dragon found and claimed him, according to Sky’s episode account. So Episode 6 shows Seasmoke’s apparent choice; Episode 7 confirms Addam as the rider.
Who Addam is in the show
Addam is from Hull and is the older brother of Alyn. The series reveals that the brothers are Corlys Velaryon’s illegitimate sons. Clinton Liberty plays Addam, as reported by Sky.

How the book account differs
The show’s account of Addam and Alyn’s parentage differs from the reported account in George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. In the book, they are regarded as dragonseeds, and a rumor identifies them as Laenor Velaryon’s sons, according to TIME. That is a reported rumor in the book’s history, not the show’s explanation of Addam’s parentage. Esquire’s account also discusses the characters’ book and show context.

The episodes and cited coverage do not establish a definitive reason for Seasmoke’s choice. TIME describes the bond’s explanation in Episode 6 as unclear. Showrunner Ryan Condal, speaking in the official podcast as quoted by Sky, describes how Rhaenyra reads Addam’s arrival: “You’re starting to hear these kinds of Messianic words, and her talking to Mysaria about Addam coming to her, being delivered to her as if a divine messenger.” That comment explains Rhaenyra’s interpretation; it does not confirm a genetic, mechanical, or other specific reason for the bond.
