The public record does not establish who will ultimately receive his property, and it does not verify a $200 million net worth. The most specific detail reported is that Bennett’s will calls for his four children to split certain assets equally. That describes certain assets under the will, not a completed distribution of everything he owned. Two of his daughters, Antonia and Johanna, have also sued their brother Danny over how the family trust and related assets were handled. Those claims are disputed, and the coverage reviewed does not show a final ruling.
Who survived Tony Bennett
Bennett died on July 21, 2023, at age 96. Sony Music’s announcement that month named Susan Benedetto and the four children as survivors. A survivor list identifies the people who outlived him. It does not say how his property is divided, and it should not be read as a list of beneficiaries.

What the will and trust reportedly provide
Two legal instruments matter here, and the public reporting describes them differently. A 2025 Associated Press report says the will calls for the four children to split certain assets equally. Separate reporting on court filings describes a family trust that names family beneficiaries, with Danny Bennett identified as trustee. The sources reviewed do not reproduce the full will, the full trust instrument, or a schedule showing which assets go where.
| Property or arrangement | What the reporting says | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Will | Calls for the four children to split certain assets equally (AP, 2025) | Which assets are covered, and whether Susan Benedetto receives anything under the will |
| Family trust | Names family beneficiaries; Danny Bennett is described as trustee (reporting on court filings) | The trust terms, the assets it holds, and how it has been administered |
| Catalogue and image-rights sale | Sisters allege Danny did not fully account for proceeds from the sale to Iconoclast (AP, June 2024) | The sale price, where the proceeds went, and whether the allegations are correct |
| Benedetto Arts LLC | Named in the sisters’ allegations about transactions involving the trust (AP, June 2024) | The company’s assets, ownership, and value |
Do not read the equal-split language as meaning all property was divided into four equal shares, or that Susan was excluded from the estate. The reporting supports neither conclusion.

The two lawsuits
The 2024 suit over accounting
In June 2024, the Associated Press reported that Antonia and Johanna accused Danny of failing to account fully for proceeds from the sale of Bennett’s catalogue and certain image rights to Iconoclast. The sisters also alleged benefits from other transactions involving the family trust and Benedetto Arts LLC. They asked the court for equitable relief, an accounting, and an inventory. These are allegations in a lawsuit.
The Guardian quoted the sisters’ filing from the same period: “Although Danny and his counsel have provided piecemeal information and produced some documents to petitioners’ counsel, the information provided raises more questions than answers and fails to provide anything close to an accounting of Tony’s assets and financial affairs.” This is the petitioners’ own statement, quoted from their filing. It is not a court finding.

The 2025 suit and the request for removal
A later AP report describes a second lawsuit in which the sisters alleged that Danny exercised control through several roles and breached his fiduciary duties. They asked that he be removed as head of the trust. The same report includes a statement from a spokesperson for Danny, who is not named in the article: “This lawsuit is yet another baseless attempt to distort the public and the court’s understanding of Tony Bennett’s clearly stated wishes.” The spokesperson said Danny followed his father’s plan.
The report also cites the sisters’ claim of a $245,000 distribution to each of them. That is a figure from a litigant, not an accounting. It should not be presented as an inheritance total or as the size of any final share.

Why the $200 million figure cannot be confirmed
A net-worth figure published by a media outlet is an estimate of what a person’s holdings might be worth. An estate is a different thing. Settling an estate involves probate assets, trust property, business interests, royalty and catalogue income, transaction proceeds, and the actual distribution to each beneficiary. Each of those needs a documented value before a total can be stated. The reporting reviewed contains none of these: no consolidated accounting, no primary valuation, and no court-approved inventory that establishes $200 million.
The lawsuits show that the financial picture is contested. They do not prove any particular number. The $245,000 figure is a claim within litigation, and it should not be used to imply what anyone will receive.

How to read claims in estate disputes
Estate coverage often mixes three kinds of statements. Keeping them separate prevents most errors.
| Type of statement | Example from this case | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Reported terms of a document | The will calls for an equal split of certain assets (AP, 2025) | Confirm against the filed will and trust before treating it as settled. |
| Allegations in a complaint | Failure to account for catalogue proceeds; breach of fiduciary duty | Unproven. A complaint states what the plaintiffs claim, not what a court has found. |
| Denials by a party | Danny’s spokesperson calls the 2025 suit baseless | A position in the dispute, not a finding that the allegations are false. |
| Figures cited by a litigant | $245,000 per sister | Not an accounting. Do not treat it as a total or a final share. |
| Media net-worth estimates | $200 million | Unverified in the reporting reviewed. |
What remains open
- Whether a court has ruled on the sisters’ accounting claims or their request to remove Danny as trustee. The most recent reporting reviewed is from 2025.
- The complete will and trust instruments, and which assets they cover.
- A full accounting of the catalogue sale and related transactions.
- Any verified valuation of the estate, and the final distribution to each survivor.
Court records in the jurisdiction where the cases were filed are the place to check for rulings or filings after 2025. Reporting from later dates may have changed the picture described here.
