The couple dated for nearly a decade. In an April 2026 TikTok video, McCracken said they had been separated since the beginning of January 2026, and she described the split as having no drama.
Who is Tess McCracken?
McCracken competed for Penn State’s women’s gymnastics team on bars, beam, and floor. Before Penn State she competed in Texas, and she was a three-time Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier, according to a 2026 Us Weekly profile. That profile also reports that she later earned a master’s degree in biotechnology at Penn State and completed her education in 2021.
She left the sport in 2020. In an Instagram farewell, quoted by Us Weekly, she wrote: “You taught me what it means to truly work hard, and then you taught me again, and again, and again.” She had been involved in gymnastics for 16 years at that point.
How they met and how long they dated
The two met around their freshman year at Penn State in 2016. In a July 2024 interview cited by Us Weekly, Nedoroscik recalled that they became friends quickly. He said: “Immediately there was a friendship, and we just continued talking. Within a week, we were basically dating.”

The length of the relationship is given in two places, and they describe different points in time. In an August 2024 E! interview conducted during the Paris Olympics, McCracken said they had been together eight years. The 2026 Us Weekly report describes the relationship as lasting nearly a decade, which covers the period through the split.

When did they break up?
McCracken’s April 2026 TikTok statement is the main public account of the split. She said they had not been together since early January 2026. Her summary of the reason was brief: “It was really just time, and that sucks a lot. There’s really no other way to put it.”
The statement is her own account. Nedoroscik has not been quoted in the reporting on the split, and no reliable source reviewed here gives a fuller timeline than the one she offered.

Why did they split?
McCracken said there was no “big, blow-up fight” between them. She attributed the separation to changing needs as they moved from their teens into their late twenties. She also said: “There is no bad blood. I want to see [Stephen] succeed in everything, but the way that support is coming has to be different now.”
Online rumors have suggested that a political difference caused the breakup. McCracken later denied that rumor, as reported by Us Weekly. No other reliable source gives a specific cause, so the explanation available is the one she gave herself.

McCracken publicly backed Nedoroscik during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he helped the U.S. men’s team win bronze, and during season 33 of Dancing With the Stars. Her celebratory post after the team medal, quoted by Us Weekly, read: “The most insane, magical day watching you close it out to bring home the first team medal for USA in sixteen years.”
