Simon Guobadia is Porsha Williams’ former husband. Entertainment reporting describes him as a Nigerian-born businessman. Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, and a Fulton County judge granted the divorce petition in July 2025, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporting published in January 2026. The sections below separate what each party has alleged, what a court has ordered, and what has happened since.

Who Simon Guobadia is

Simon Iyore Guobadia is described in entertainment coverage as a Nigerian-born businessman. Court-record-based reporting ties his business interests to Simcol Petroleum. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in 2026 that court records showed a net worth of more than $322 million at the time of the marriage, largely attributed to Simcol Petroleum. That figure describes the period of the marriage. It is not a current net-worth estimate.

Several basic biographical details are not established by the reporting available. There is no confirmed birth date, age, education history or full career chronology for Guobadia, so anything beyond the business association and national origin should be treated as unverified.

Engagement and the two wedding dates

Williams and Guobadia announced their engagement in May 2021, after a short courtship, according to Entertainment Tonight. The marriage has two dates in the public record, and both appear in court filings:

  • November 25, 2022: a traditional Nigerian ceremony, as stated in Williams’ reply in Fulton County court.
  • November 26, 2022: the formal wedding and marriage-certificate date, cited in the same court filing and in Guobadia’s counterclaim.

The two dates are not a dispute about whether a marriage took place. They reflect a traditional ceremony followed by a separate formal date. Williams’ February 2024 filing also referred to a prenuptial agreement dated November 17, 2022, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

Divorce timeline

The table lists each dated event and the kind of record it comes from. Entries marked as a party’s position are pleadings, not findings by a judge.

Date Event Source and status
May 2021 Engagement announced Entertainment Tonight; reported announcement
November 17, 2022 Prenuptial agreement date Cited in Williams’ February 2024 filing, as reported by Entertainment Tonight; party account
November 25, 2022 Traditional Nigerian ceremony Williams’ reply in Fulton County court; party account
November 26, 2022 Formal wedding and marriage-certificate date Court filing and Guobadia’s counterclaim; party accounts
February 2024 Williams files for divorce, describing the marriage as irretrievably broken Filing, as reported by Entertainment Tonight
March 2024 Guobadia files a counterclaim for divorce, also describing the marriage as irretrievably broken Party pleading, not a judicial finding
November 2024 Guobadia sues Williams over social-media statements Reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution; later sought voluntary dismissal
June 2025 Guobadia is deported Reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in January 2026
July 2025 Fulton County judge grants Williams’ divorce petition and enforces the prenuptial agreement Court ruling, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in January 2026
January 2026 Reported ruling terms: $40,000 per month for 14 months, nearly $250,000 in attorney fees, and the marital home awarded to Williams Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporting; payment and property terms as reported
July 2026 Williams secures full ownership of the Sandy Springs estate Atlanta Business Chronicle, citing Fulton County deeds

How to read the court record

Several of the events above sit at different stages of the same case. Keeping these distinctions in view prevents common misreadings:

  • Filing versus ruling. Williams’ February 2024 filing and Guobadia’s March 2024 counterclaim are requests. The July 2025 judgment is the order that granted the divorce petition.
  • Party assertion versus judicial order. Statements that the marriage was irretrievably broken, or that the parties were lawfully married on November 26, 2022, come from the pleadings. The divorce itself was granted by the court.
  • Order date versus implementation. The July 2025 ruling is a court decision. The July 2026 deed transfer is a separate later event in the property record.
  • Reported value versus appraisal. Dollar figures in news coverage reflect what the outlet reported, not an independent appraisal.

The Sandy Springs estate

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported in July 2026 that Williams secured full ownership of a Sandy Springs estate, citing Fulton County deeds. Its article preview valued the estate at $8 million and said Guobadia had bought it for just under $7 million in 2021. The $8 million value is the outlet’s figure rather than an independent appraisal.

The deed transfer is a later event than the divorce judgment. The January 2026 Atlanta Journal-Constitution report said the judge awarded Williams the marital home, and the 2026 deed record reflects the property changing hands in her name.

Immigration and location reporting

A 2024 counterclaim filed by Guobadia said he held permanent resident status and was not at risk of deportation at that time. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution later reported that he was deported in June 2025 and was living in the United Arab Emirates at the time of its January 2026 report. Those two accounts are consistent when read in order, but neither is a current immigration determination or a live location check. Readers should treat the deportation and the UAE residence as dated reporting.

Where the case stands

Guobadia sued Williams in November 2024 over social-media statements. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that he later sought voluntary dismissal while reserving a possible right to refile. As of that January 2026 article, no trial date had been set. Without a later docket review, the dismissal request should not be described as a final disposition of that claim.

The allegations in the filings, including those about Guobadia’s immigration status and any other claims about his conduct, are positions taken by the parties. They have not been established as settled facts.

Television context

Williams and Guobadia both appeared on Porsha’s Family Matters, a Bravo spinoff. The show’s coverage of their relationship is entertainment programming and does not function as a court record.
