Who is Monica Pascal?
Monica is introduced through her marriage to Dom Pascal, the officer who takes over as Firehouse 51’s chief during the Season 13 transition. TV Insider’s episode report and interview with showrunner Andrea Newman identify Strickland as Monica and describe the couple’s relationship as complicated.

How is she connected to the new chief?
Monica is Dom’s wife. The distinction matters: Dom is the new chief, while Monica’s significance is personal and consequential to his story. Season 13 coverage portrays their marriage as containing affection as well as conflict. Newman put it this way: “The passion is there, the love is there, but there’s some darkness, too.” She also said Dom would cross lines to protect Monica.
Dermot Mulroney described Dom’s early characterization in an October 2024 TV Insider interview: “What I’ve learned about Pascal in the first handful of episodes is he’s surprisingly kind.” He added, “I think we’re learning that he’s fiercely loyal to his company.” Those are Mulroney’s comments on the character, not a separate account of Monica’s role.

What happens to Monica in Season 13?
Spoilers for Season 13: TV Insider’s episode account reports that Monica dies in a car accident. Dom is waiting for her at a restaurant for their anniversary dinner when the accident happens; by the time he reaches the hospital, she has died. This is the Season 13 storyline reported in the cited coverage, not a claim about developments in later seasons.
How does Monica’s death affect Dom?
Her death becomes a major source of Dom’s grief. In a separate TV Insider interview, Mulroney said Dom returns to work while struggling with the loss and makes poor decisions that his crew has to help rein in. The loss therefore links Monica’s personal story directly to Dom’s conduct at the firehouse.

Dom’s arrival also changes the workplace dynamic at Firehouse 51. In a TVLine Season 13 preview, showrunner Andrea Newman said Dom makes clear that he is not Wallace Boden and does not intend to be. Newman described him as “very much his own kind of leader,” adding that this would create drama in the firehouse. Monica’s story is the personal side of the transition; Dom’s distinct leadership is the professional side.
