Mick Jagger’s fiancée is Melanie Hamrick, a former American Ballet Theatre dancer who has also worked as a choreographer and fiction writer. Hamrick confirmed in an interview reported on April 11, 2025, that they had been engaged for “two or three years.” She also said marriage is not a settled plan: “Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not.” Global News reported her comments.
How Hamrick and Jagger met
Hamrick and Jagger met in Japan in February 2014, when Hamrick was touring with American Ballet Theatre and Jagger was on tour with the Rolling Stones. They met backstage at one of the band’s shows, according to Global News.

Why reports about their engagement changed
The public account developed in two stages. In 2023, Hamrick said Jagger had given her a ring, but called it a “promise ring” in her own mind. “We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring,” she said, as quoted by The Independent. The outlet also reported that a Jagger representative said engagement reports at the time were “not true.”

- Foreign Tongues, the vibrant 14-track album from the Rolling Stones, follows the band's universally acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning Hackney Diamonds in 2023, which topped charts worldwide and achieved multiplatinum success
In April 2025, Hamrick said they had actually been engaged for two or three years. Her later account clarifies the couple’s status; the 2023 coverage reflected what was said publicly then, not a wedding announcement. Hamrick has not announced a wedding date and said the couple may or may not marry. Global News quoted her saying she was happy with their current life and “too afraid to change anything.”
Hamrick’s work in ballet, choreography and fiction
Hamrick danced with American Ballet Theatre and stepped down from the company in 2019. She later turned to choreography and fiction writing, pursuits that give her public profile a dimension separate from her relationship with Jagger.

From company dancer to choreographer
In 2019, Hamrick choreographed Porte Rouge, a ballet set to Rolling Stones music. Jagger helped curate the music: he said Hamrick had the idea and chose the songs, while his contribution included arranging transitions and edits. Town & Country reported their account of the collaboration.
Her novels
Hamrick is also a fiction author. Tatler describes her debut, First Position, as a novel set in the ballet world and identifies The Unravelling as its follow-up. These are works of fiction, not memoirs. Tatler’s 2024 profile discusses her writing.

What Hamrick has said about their relationship
Hamrick described their approach as supporting one another and keeping the family happy. “We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy,” she said, as quoted by Global News in April 2025. Her comments confirm the engagement while leaving marriage itself open-ended.
