He is a private figure outside of his wife’s public life, so most of what is publicly known about him comes from reporting on McEnany’s career and from her own interviews.
Who Sean Gilmartin is
Gilmartin played professional baseball as a pitcher. The Los Angeles Times reported that he retired from the sport in 2022. That is the most recent status established for his playing career. Reporting available for this article does not verify his teams, pitching statistics, or draft history, so those details are left out rather than estimated.

How the relationship began and progressed
The Los Angeles Times reported the couple’s timeline in years rather than exact dates:
| Milestone | Year | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Began dating | 2015 | Reported by the Los Angeles Times |
| Married | 2017 | Reported by the Los Angeles Times; the exact wedding date is not stated in the reporting |
Because the sources give only years, any specific day, location, or ceremony detail you see elsewhere should be checked against a primary report before you repeat it.

The family they have built
The couple have three children. Their third child, a daughter named Avery Grace, was born in June 2025, according to reporting on the family. Public information about the other two children is limited, and this article does not speculate beyond what has been reported.
How McEnany has described his support
McEnany has offered one concrete public example of her husband’s support. In a Fox News interview, she said he drove her from Florida to Washington, D.C., shortly before she began serving as White House press secretary. Describing that moment, she said: “I was excited, but nervous for what the future held.”

That single account is the only specific example of his role that has been publicly described, so it should not be read as a full picture of their partnership.
Her view of his baseball career
In the same Fox News interview, McEnany said she is not naturally a baseball fan, but she especially enjoyed watching Gilmartin pitch in the major leagues and in the World Series. When the interviewer, Dana Perino, asked about watching him play, McEnany replied: “Of course I have seen ‘Dana Reads Sports’ — love it!”
