William “Billy” Evans is Holmes’s partner and the father of their two children. Public profiles have described him as an heir to the family-owned Evans Hotels group. The Independent’s 2023 profile, drawing on Evans’s LinkedIn information, says he studied economics at MIT and Chinese at Fudan University, and worked at LinkedIn and Luminar Technologies. Those details are attributed to that profile rather than independently verified here.

How did Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans meet?
The Independent reported that they met at a Fleet Week charity event in San Francisco in 2017. Evans described an initial period of friendship before they became a couple. A&E reported that he proposed in 2018.
Are Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans married?
The accounts differ. A&E’s October 7, 2026 update says they are not married and quotes Holmes telling People: “Maybe we’ll get married someday. But our bond is more than a piece of paper.” A&E also reported that they bought rings before Holmes went to prison.

By contrast, The Independent’s May 2023 profile called Evans Holmes’s husband and repeated reports that they had married in a private 2019 ceremony. The later A&E account gives a different description and quotes Holmes directly. On the available current account, “partner” is the clearest term; the private-ceremony claim should be treated as an older, conflicting report.
How many children do they have?
Holmes and Evans have two children. A&E reports their first child was born in July 2021 and their second in early 2023. The same outlet says Evans and the children visit Holmes in prison.
How has Evans supported Holmes during her case?
Evans remained publicly supportive through Holmes’s criminal proceedings. The Independent quoted a letter he sent to Judge Edward Davila before sentencing: “My heart is broken with the thought of spending any days away from Liz, for a future in which my son grows up with a relationship with his mother on the other side of glass armed by guards.” His statements express his own view and should not be mistaken for independent findings about Holmes or her case.
The Associated Press reported on February 24, 2025, that Holmes had failed to overturn her Theranos fraud conviction on appeal. It reported that she began serving an 11-year sentence in May 2023. Prison custody and release details can change; those dates do not establish her status today.

What is Billy Evans doing professionally?
