Their public wedding was held on a luxury yacht, and in a 2024 ELLE profile Taylor is described as the CEO of Salute 1st, a group that offers mentorship programs for young men. Their marriage has been covered in celebrity and entertainment press for about a decade, so the details below separate what was reported at the time from what was reported later.
Who Kendall Taylor is
Taylor was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina, according to ELLE’s January 18, 2024 profile of him. That profile describes him as CEO of Salute 1st, a mentorship organization for young men. The article also relays Taylor’s own account of a difficult early life, criminal involvement, and a later business career. Those personal-history details come from Taylor’s account as presented in the profile, not from independent verification.

His business role has changed over time. When TV Guide reported the marriage in July 2015, it identified him as a businessman and then chief operating officer of a North Carolina courier company. That was his title at the time of the wedding. The 2024 CEO description is the most recent role reported in the sources reviewed for this article, and no later profile or company filing confirming his current position was located.

Barrino’s account of how they met is the only source for the rooftop meeting and the courthouse timing. The engagement date and the yacht wedding are supported by contemporaneous reporting from UPI and TV Guide.
Family
The couple’s family is blended. Each brings children from earlier relationships, and they also share a child together:
- Barrino’s children from prior relationships: two, according to the reporting cited here.
- Taylor’s son: from a prior relationship.
- Keziah: the daughter Barrino and Taylor welcomed in 2021, and the only child they share.
Barrino told BET in December 2020 that she was pregnant after what she described as a three-year effort to conceive. Reporting does not give further detail about the pregnancy beyond that account.
Joint projects and their book
ELLE reports that Barrino and Taylor co-started Rock Soul Entertainment. The same outlet reports that they co-wrote No Crowns in the Castle, a relationship book, in 2022. That book is the clearest public record of the couple working on a project together.
Whether Rock Soul Entertainment is still operating, and whether No Crowns in the Castle is currently in print or available from a retailer, were not confirmed in the reporting reviewed for this article. Readers looking for a copy should check a current bookseller listing before buying.
