Public biographical accounts give the marriage as running from 1982 to 1991, and say the couple had three children, one of whom, Lyssa Rae Chapman, became publicly known as “Baby Lyssa.” Brittain is the children’s mother, not the daughter who appeared on television.
Where Brittain fits in Chapman’s marriages
Wikipedia’s Duane Chapman biography lists Brittain as his third wife. The two wives who precede her in that biography are La Fonda Sue Honeycutt and Anne M. Tegnell. The biography dates the marriage to Brittain from 1982 to 1991.

A Hindustan Times family-history article dated July 21, 2025 reports the same 1982 marriage and 1991 divorce, so the dates are consistent across at least two public accounts. Both are secondary summaries; neither reproduces a marriage certificate or court record.
The three children
Both the Wikipedia biography and the Hindustan Times article name three children from the marriage:

Mother and daughter are two different people
Because the mother and daughter share the name Lyssa Rae, it is easy to merge them. The table separates the two.
| Name | Role in the family story | How they appear in public accounts |
|---|---|---|
| Lyssa Rae Brittain | Duane Chapman’s third wife and the mother of Lyssa Rae Chapman | Named as third wife in the Wikipedia biography (1982–1991 marriage) and in an E! Online relationship-history article, which the search result described as recounting the same role |
| Lyssa Rae Chapman (“Baby Lyssa”) | Daughter of Chapman and Brittain | Appeared in the television series; named among the three children in the Wikipedia biography and the Hindustan Times article |
How the relationship began
Public sources do not offer a verified account of how Chapman and Brittain met. The one detail that appears in the biography, that Chapman described meeting her shortly before the wedding, comes from his own memoir rather than independent reporting. Read it as his account, not an established fact.

What public sources do not say about Brittain after the divorce
The biographical and news accounts available for this question do not establish a reliable picture of Brittain’s life after the 1991 divorce. They do not say where she lives, what work she does, or whether she has chosen to step back from public life. Any detail beyond her marriage to Chapman and her role as mother of the three children would go beyond what these sources support.

Chapman’s 2008 memoir, You Can Run But You Can’t Hide, is the most detailed first-person background on his life and marriages. It is his own account, not Brittain’s and not an independently verified biography, so it is best read alongside the secondary summaries above.
