The only relationship publicly confirmed by Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency is with actress Lee Sung-kyung. YG Entertainment confirmed they were dating on April 24, 2017, and confirmed their breakup on August 18, 2017. That is the extent of the official record. It does not show whether he has had other relationships, either before or after those dates.
The confirmed timeline
Both dates below come from YG Entertainment statements, the agency that manages both actors, and were carried by Korean and English-language entertainment outlets at the time.

How the agency worded the confirmation
The April 2017 statement was issued by YG rather than by either actor, so it is the agency’s account that establishes the relationship. OSEN reproduced YG’s Korean-language statement, which said that after checking with Lee Sung-kyung and Nam Joo-hyuk, the two, who had been close since their modeling days, had recently developed mutual feelings and were dating well.
Soompi’s English report gives the same substance in this wording:

Attribute this sentence to YG Entertainment, not to either actor personally.

How long the relationship lasted
The agency statements do not give a start date. They describe feelings that had recently developed, which means the confirmation marks when the relationship was made public, not when it began. The Korea Times reported that the pair had been dating for more than five months by the time of the April 2017 confirmation. That is a newspaper’s account, not an agency-confirmed date, so it should be presented as the Korea Times’s figure if you cite it.
Earlier rumors
Speculation about the two had circulated before YG’s statement. According to The Korea Times, both actors had denied being more than friends at that earlier point. Those denials are why a rumor from that period should not be counted as a confirmed relationship. Only the April 2017 agency statement establishes the public relationship.

Why the breakup happened is not public
In its August 2017 statement, YG confirmed the breakup but declined to give a reason, describing it as a personal matter. Soompi quoted the agency: “We checked with Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung, and it is true that the two recently broke up.”
Some coverage attributed the split to busy schedules. That explanation came from industry sources, not from the agency’s confirmed statement, so it should not be presented as fact.

What this record does not cover
- Its age. The confirmation and breakup both date to 2017. The reporting reviewed here does not cover any later relationship, so it cannot tell you about his dating life in the years since.
