Elvis Presley is buried in the Meditation Garden on the grounds of Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. His parents, Vernon and Gladys Presley, and his paternal grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley, are buried there too, as are his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and her son, Benjamin Keough. The one family member whose burial site is not established is Elvis’s twin, Jesse Garon Presley, who was stillborn. Who is buried in the Meditation Garden
The garden was landscaped from the fall of 1964 through the summer of 1965 as a private place for Elvis. The National Register of Historic Places documentation for Graceland describes it in these terms: “This area (K on Site Plan) was landscaped from the fall of 1964 through the summer of 1965 for Presley to use as a private place for contemplation and meditation.” (U.S. Department of the Interior, National Register of Historic Places, “Graceland”)

Elvis Presley
Elvis is buried in the Meditation Garden, which Graceland presents as the last stop of its mansion tour. Graceland’s official Mansion page states: “The final stop of the tour of Graceland Mansion is Meditation Garden, where Elvis and members of his family have been laid to rest.” (Graceland, “Graceland Mansion”) The page does not name an individual author.
Gladys Presley
Gladys was Elvis’s mother. Graceland’s 2018 notice says her headstone was added to the garden, and that Elvis and Gladys were buried there in October 1977. The notice is Graceland’s own account, so it is the place to look for the reinterment date. Vernon Presley and Minnie Mae Presley
Graceland’s official history places Vernon Presley, Elvis’s father, and Minnie Mae Presley, his paternal grandmother, in the Meditation Garden alongside Gladys. Lisa Marie Presley and Benjamin Keough
Lisa Marie Presley was laid to rest at Graceland in 2023. Graceland’s memorial service information describes the procession to the Meditation Garden. (Graceland, “Lisa Marie Presley Memorial Service Information”) Associated Press reporting from the same period states that her grave is next to her son Benjamin Keough’s, and that the two are alongside her grandparents and great-grandmother. Because the National Register listing predates these burials, it names only the four historical occupants. Any list of the garden that includes Lisa Marie and Benjamin should cite the 2023 Graceland and AP reporting rather than the older federal record.
Jesse Garon Presley: what is and is not established
Graceland describes Jesse Garon as Elvis’s twin, who was stillborn. That account is in Graceland’s Mother’s Day tribute to Gladys. The National Register’s description of the family cemetery lists four burials and does not include Jesse. The official pages reviewed do not confirm where Jesse is buried, or whether a memorial marker for him exists in the garden.

Readers should therefore treat his stillbirth as documented and his place in the garden as unconfirmed. A statement that he is buried at Graceland needs a primary source that names a grave or marker.

Mansion tour
The Meditation Garden is also the final stop of the Graceland Mansion tour, so visitors who take the tour see it at the end of the route. - Check the visit overview page for current tour options and ticket information.
- Plan to arrive before 8:30 a.m. if you want a walk-up visit, and allow time to leave the grounds before the tour starts.
For genuine family burials, this is the simplest route to the Meditation Garden. The garden itself is the same whether you come on a tour or in the early-morning window.
Keeping the family list accurate
The historical burials are documented by Graceland and by the National Register. The 2023 burials are documented by Graceland and by AP. Jesse’s stillbirth is documented, but his burial site is not. Those three groups should stay separate when writing about the garden, so that a memorial mention is not presented as a grave.
