Bo Bragason is an English actor cast as Zelda in Nintendo’s live-action film The Legend of Zelda. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth plays Link. Nintendo’s September 8, 2026 announcement lists the film’s worldwide theatrical release as April 30, 2027.
What role Bragason plays
Bragason plays Zelda, the princess who is the franchise’s central figure alongside Link. Casting was first reported in July 2025, when Nintendo announced the lead roles. Nintendo’s September 2026 announcement confirms both actors’ roles and the film’s official title, so that is the most current official source for the casting.

Her reported screen credits
ABC News and the Los Angeles Times both name several of Bragason’s earlier screen roles. These are selected credits, not a complete filmography:
- Three Girls, a British series
- The Jetty
- Renegade Nell, a Disney+ series
- The Radleys, a 2024 film
Coverage of the 2025 casting did not describe her career in more detail, so this list is the extent of what can be verified about her prior work.

Age and personal background
Coverage published around the July 2025 casting gave conflicting ages. ABC News reported 20, and the Los Angeles Times reported 21. Neither outlet established a reliable birth date, so this article does not state her age. The same applies to other personal biography: the sources available do not verify it, and it is not included here.

Nintendo’s announcement ties the film to the franchise but does not say which game installment, if any, provides its story. Readers should not assume the plot follows Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, or any other specific game. No official plot synopsis has been published in the sources available.

Franchise context
The Legend of Zelda series began with a game released in Japan in 1986. Nintendo reports more than 6.1 billion video games sold globally and more than 870 million hardware units sold globally. These are company-wide cumulative figures from Nintendo’s 2026 announcement. They describe the franchise and Nintendo as a whole, not Bragason or the film.
If you want to learn about the franchise before the film opens, start with the games rather than a specific installment, because the film’s source material has not been named.
